June Mariott Evans, 96 of Pearland, Texas, died at home on Friday, November 17, 2023. She was born on June 23, 1927, in Gainesville, Arkansas to James and Margaret Mariott.
During her first marriage, she lived in Illinois for 17 years and worked in her beauty salon. In 1964 she married James (Jim) Evans and moved to North Dakota. His employment took them to Oklahoma, Wyoming, Kentucky, and Pennsylvania before retirement in Pearland, Texas. In each new location, June and Jim served in a local church. She spent years teaching Sunday school classes, visiting sick members, and cooking for church events. She was especially talented with her baking and treated her family members to their favorite cakes for birthdays. June had the reputation of being in constant motion and that did not hit a significant slowdown until she turned 90. In her later years, she had great compassion for those in need and continued to serve through various charitable contributions.
June was preceded in death by her husband James, her parents, and eight siblings. She is survived by her daughters Penny Nill (Dick) and Shelly Evans of Pearland; son Robert Johnston of Moore, Texas; stepdaughter Paula Evans of Anchorage, Alaska; stepson David Evans (Nancy) of Farmington, Illinois; six grandchildren and seventeen greatgrandchildren.
Friends are cordially invited to the visitation with the family on Friday, November 24, 2023 at 10:00 A.M. with the funeral service following at 11:00 A.M. at Jeter Memorial Funeral Home, 311 N. Friendswood Dr., Friendswood, Texas 77546 (281) 992-7200. Interment will follow at South Park Cemetery in Pearland, Texas.

Shelly, my sincerest condolences as you process your grief over the loss of your wonderful mother. Reading her obitituary, I can see what a role model she was for you. I am sorry for your loss but know you will find relief in knowing that she is no longer struggling and has reached her final home in Heaven.
