September 23, 1932 – May 18, 2022
Joyce Ann Sharp Sutton, 89, beloved mother, grandmother, friend and a true example of a southern lady, gained her wings on May 19, 2022 after a short illness.
Joyce was born in Indianola, Mississippi on September 23, 1932 to Fulton and Lanova Sharp. At a very young age she gained employment at the local drugstore and soda fountain to assist her family. She married the love of her life Frank Sutton in Indianola, Mississippi on July 27, 1952. While Frank was in the Navy, she and the children went to wherever he was deployed whenever possible. She made it her profession to be an exemplary wife, mother, and friend.
After Frank’s retirement they moved to Alvin where her mother and other family members lived. She pursued her love of children by becoming an active member of ARC, an organization to assist children with disabilities, and participating in programs for children at First United Methodist Church where she was a longtime member. She loved seeing and keeping up with the children she had contact with watching them grow and seeing them form families of their own. She looked forward to playing cards with her longtime friends and going to lunch with family and friends, and in later years keeping up and visiting with neighbors on her daily walks.
Joyce was preceded in death by her husband Frank and a brother Robert Sharp. She is survived by her son, John Sutton and wife Sussie and daughter Pamela Foley and husband Jeff, all of Alvin; grandchildren, Tommie Christiansen and husband Robert; Justin Sutton and wife Shayne of Marion Illinois; Heather Sutton and partner Jessie Alvear, and Rachel Foley; great grandchildren, Christina Goudeau, Alexandria Battistoni, Jesika Christiansen, Stevie Rose Alvear and great-great grandchildren, Jeremiah, Elyjiah, and Brandon Goudeau, Jr; two sisters, Kathleen Sutton of Alvin, Sylvia Powell of League City, and sister-in-law Mary Sharp of Pearland.
Friends are cordially invited to the visitation with the family on June 16, 2022 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Jeter Memorial Funeral Home, 311 N. Friendswood Dr., Friendswood, Texas 77546 (281) 992-7200
The funeral service will be held on June 17, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Jeter Memorial Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Bass officiating. She will be laid to rest with her husband Frank at Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Houston at a later date.

Goodbye our dear friend.
Condolences from the Bowman/McDonald Family. Joyce was such a lady and she loved me and my family as if we were part of her family. I will miss her beautiful smile and her delighted laughter. May she rest in peace and the love of Jesus Christ.
Another earthly saint called to her reward. She was an outstanding Christian role model. We will miss her.
So sorry to hear about your mother. She was a wonderful lady, always sweet and so kind to everyone. I know you will miss her!
