September 17, 1931 – September 8, 2023
John Albert Vitellaro, 91, of Friendswood, TX passed away September 8, 2023. He was born in Boston on September 17, 1931 to Sicilian immigrant parents. He was the second oldest of four children (Rocco, John, Frank and Josephine). John grew up during the depression and was always aware of how he spent his money. He joined the Air Force as a young man during the Korean War and used the GI Bill to complete his education at Boston University. He married his wife Joan and had two children (Jason and Viveca).
John worked for many engineering and aerospace companies which gave him the ability to travel, finally retiring in Texas from Lockheed Missiles & Space. After retiring he still traveled yearly, always making time to return to Boston.
He was a tough father but always had your best interests in mind. He will always be remembered.
John is survived by his son Jason and wife Debbi Vitellaro; and daughter Viveca Vitellaro and husband Michael Clark.
His ashes will be interred in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, Massachusetts.

I was just talking with my mother Josephine Oeschger. She remembers what a good guy John was. They were first cousins (Grace Vitellaro was her mother) and school mates.
A few years ago I read a letter he wrote my Mom about their grandfather’s life, eventually settling in Boston and included a meatball recipe. When mentioned he was buried in Bourne, Mom said he liked to go to the Cape to dig quahogs for a quahog feast.
