June 14, 1954 – June 20, 2022
John Alan Stanley passed away unexpectedly on the 20th of June, 2022. He was born in Pasadena, Texas on June 14, 1954 to Bobby F. and Doris Stanley.
Alan attended Deer Park High School, and began his lifelong love of the game of golf as a member of the golf team. He graduated from Sam Houston State University with a degree in Accounting.
Alan began his career in the petroleum industry at Charter Oil Company. As a Refined Products Scheduler and Trader, he developed a keen insight into the internal and external factors affecting the petroleum industry and made valuable and long-lasting personal connections with countless individuals worldwide. In the early 2000’s, his entrepreneurial spirit pushed him to become an independent consultant. His opinions made him a frequent source for petroleum industry publications.
When people in the petroleum industry spoke of Alan, they frequently used the words honesty and integrity to describe his personal and business beliefs. He had a strong work ethic and firmly believed that a man’s word meant something when given.
Through his love of golf, he was able to form business connections, partnerships, and lasting friendships throughout his career. His favorite vacations were at Pebble Beach, where he could combine golf with spending time with family.
Alan was preceded in death by his father, Bobby F. Stanley; uncle, Bill Bailey, and grandparents.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Vicky Stanley; his daughter, Adrienne Stanley; his son, Michael Stanley and his wife Skylar, and their daughter, Maeve. He is also survived by his mother, Doris Stanley; sisters, Katharine Gatzke, Martha Stanley, and Carolyn Rogers; aunt and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
A private memorial service has been held by his immediate family.
The world has lost a truly good man.
In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests with gratitude that you please consider a Tribute/Memorial gift in Alan’s name to The First Tee Organization. Tribute gifts can be made at: https://firsttee.org/donate. The First Tee organization enables kids to build the strength of character to help them during a lifetime of new challenges. Through the game of golf, they develop life skills that build inner strength, self-confidence, and resilience they can use in everything they do.
Please visit Alan’s online memorial tribute at www.jeterfuneralhome.com where memories and words of condolence may be shared electronically with his family.

Alan was a gentle man with an indomitable spirit, always more interested in other peoples’ acknowledgements than his own. While an accomplished business leader, he carried the notions of perseverance, courage, and commitment beyond his career. Alan’s passion to succeed and to "do the right thing" won him admirers and insured his success. He conveyed sincerity in everything that he did, and sought out win/win scenarios, even when they were not particularly obvious.
Alan was a class act who always treated people with dignity and respect, regardless of their walk-in life. It is simply through the constructive manner in which he lived his life that he had the greatest impact upon others. Alan took the time to notice the little things that made life special, and in doing so, made others' feel special as well.
He was a listener, a giver, a responder, a silent doer – my friend.
To Alan’s son, Michael, and daughter, Skyler: Whenever you have a problem, ask yourself, “What would my father want me to do?” You will always make the right decision.
Heaven has just been blessed by the presence of Alan Stanley.
“Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, trust also in me. In my Father’s house there are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going.” John 4:1-4
As I continue in life, I will find myself looking back to the examples that Alan set and will strive to imitate them.

I am blessed beyond measure to be John Alan’s Mom. He was the Son that every woman dreams of having. I loved and respected him with all my heart and I am grateful I had many occasions to tell him so. He was the one who’s advice I trusted. Even though I have a big hole in my heart now, I am confident I will see him again.
May God bless and comfort you Doris during this very difficult time. I have full confidence that you will see Bobby and Alan again in Paradise.
I loved Bob and I loved Alan and I will miss Alan in the coming days. Alan loved you Doris and he spoke of you often when we visited.
Take care of yourself and know that I will be thinking of you.
Sincerely,
Steve Golding

I am so blessed to have had my path in life cross that of Alan. I first got to know and love Alan's dad Bob. When I met Alan I knew right away that the apple did not fall far from the tree. Alan had a very gentle and sincere way about him. He had a true understanding on right from wrong and honesty was his trademark. I will miss his gentle spirit and will miss just calling and talking about life and what is going on.
I am so proud that I not only knew both Bobby Stanley and Alan Stanley and even prouder to have called both of them my friends.
Alan I will miss you but know that you and your dad are together again and that you are probably playing on one of those beautiful golf courses up in heaven.
May God bless you Vicky, Doris, and the whole family. Please call on me if I can ever do anything for you.
