In Loving Memory

Jo Ann Babcock Karrick

Jo Ann Babcock Karrick

August 11, 1932 – August 15, 2025

Mrs. Jo Ann Karrick, 93, passed away on Friday, August 15.   She was a resident of Friendswood for the past 15 years.  She is survived by her loving husband of 69 years, Chester P. Karrick, Jr., her daughter Kimberly Ann Zrubek, her husband Scott Zrubek, and sister-in-law Suzanne Babcock.

Jo Ann was born in 1932 in St. Louis, Missouri.  Her parents were Russell Monroe Babcock and Maureen Alva Moore.  She moved with her mother to Dallas in 1934.  Later moving to Austin, Jo Ann graduated from Austin High School.  She attended Trinity University for two years where she met her husband to be.  Transferring to T. C. U., she graduated with a degree in Elementary Education and taught 2nd and 3rd grades for 10 years in Houston Public Schools Janowski and Mading Elementary.  Later in life she enjoyed teaching 4 and 5 year olds at a local day care.

She and her husband previously lived in Kemah, League City, and after retirement in Waterwood at Lake Livingston.  They enjoyed spending 13 summers in Estes Park, Co, hiking in the mountains, watching the Elk herds, and enjoying the summer cool weather.

They later moved to Friendswood to be with her daughter and son-in-law.

The family’s deepest gratitude to Jo Ann’s excellent home care team Patricia, Angela, Carmela and Erin.

There will be no funeral service.  Arrangements were made by Jeter Funeral Home in Friendswood.
