Jerry Milton Talbert

July 28, 1932 – October 12, 2023

Jerry Milton Talbert, 91, of Alvin, Texas passed away on Thursday, October 12, 2023. He was born July 28, 1932, in Felixville, Louisiana, to LP Jr and Lorena (Doughty) Talbert. After graduating from Texas City High School in 1950, he joined the United States Navy where he served as a submarine sailor. While stationed in Honolulu, Hawaii, he met an adventurous young nurse named Betty Swain. They were married April 2, 1955, in Conde, South Dakota, and made their home in Texas City, Texas before moving to Alvin where they raised four children and lived for 61 years. Jerry spent his career with Monsanto. After retiring he enjoyed volunteering at church, traveling with Betty in their travel trailer, gardening, fishing with friends, and of course spending time with his grandchildren.

Jerry is survived by children Cindy (Clay) Jones of Friendswood, Jay (Jennifer) Talbert of League City, Lori (Joe) Perjak of Westminster, Colorado, and Susie (Mark) Robson of New Braunfels; sister Sandy LaFrance of Highlands Ranch, Colorado, grandchildren Alex (Kristen) Jones, Andy (Stephanie) Jones, Jessica Jones, Janna Talbert, Jared Talbert, Jonathan Talbert, great-grandchildren Samantha, Kyle, Zach, Mackenzie, Connor, Jessen, Argo and Lanning, and many nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Betty (Swain) Talbert.

Friends are invited to the visitation with the family on Monday, October 16, 2023, at 1:00 pm at Alvin Methodist Church, 611 W. South St., Alvin, Texas 77511 followed by the funeral service at 2:00 pm, with Rev. Kenny Carter officiating. Interment will follow at Confederate Cemetery in Alvin, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Men’s Sunday School class at Alvin Methodist Church, or the charity of your choice.

    On behalf of the United States Submarine Veterans, we offer our sincere condolences at Jerry´s passing. Please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers. We are always saddened whenever a fellow "Bubblehead" departs on Eternal Patrol. He served with honor in the U.S. Submarine Force.
