July 9, 1948 – June 21, 2024
Janet Elizabeth Cobb Stricklin of Friendswood, Texas passed away on June 21, 2024, in Webster, Texas. She was on July 9,1948, the first of four children of Betty and James Weldon Cobb. Janet was preceded in death by her parents and sister Susan Diane Cobb McMillon.
She is survived by her husband Gerry Stricklin, son Steven Mark Stricklin and brothers Richard Michael Cobb and David Mark Cobb and nieces Elizabeth Cobb Kutka, Sarah Cobb Whelen, Robin McMillon and Colleen McMillon.
Janet was born and raised in Pasadena, TX. She attended Queens Elementary, South Houston High School, and Sam Rayburn High School.
After graduation Janet spent two years at San Jacinto College and worked the next ten years as an executive secretary for several engineering firms. Whenever her boss would change companies, he would always take Janet with him.
She and Gerry started an engineering service company in 1978 and Janet was the Chief Financial Officer for over thirty years.
Shortly after starting the business, Janet and Gerry move to Friendswood into their home in Polly Ranch estates. She would always say one of her biggest achievements was picking the perfect place to live with great neighbors. Janet and Gerry became members of the Methodist Church in Friendswood, and though she rarely attended services, she always had Gerry attend and report back to her every Sunday. She loved the Lord.
Janet also loved traveling. She and Gerry went to several countries with the same group of people for several years including tours in Italy, France, Spain, Germany, Switzerland, and Austria.
Janet was always the life of the party, and we will miss her smiling face and warm heart. She wouldn’t want anyone to forget Toby, her Sheepadoodle and the joy he brought her. You had to know him to appreciate that.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family on Friday, June 28, 2024, at 1:00 P.M. – 2:00 P.M. with the funeral service to follow at 2:00 P.M. at Jeter Memorial Funeral Home 311 North Friendswood Dr. Friendswood, Texas 77546 (281) 992-7200.
