In Loving Memory

Janet Douglas Anslow

August 1, 1952 – May 28, 2025

Janet Douglas Anslow, age 72, of Friendswood Texas, passed away unexpectedly on the morning of May 28, 2025. She spoke often of the blessed day she would be able to enter her heavenly home and be embraced by Jesus Christ, her Lord and Savior.

Janet was born on August 1, 1952, in Boston Massachusetts to Hubert and Anne Corinne Douglas. When Janet was 12, her family moved from the northeastern United States to El Lago, Texas. Her father Hubert was an early pioneer of Lockheed and was charged with establishing the company’s footprint in Nassau Bay Texas during the early stages of the NASA space program. Within a few short years of moving, Janet would meet James Anslow, one of her oldest brother’s friends and the man she would spend the rest of her life with.

James and Janet Anslow were married on June 17, 1972, and remained by each other’s side for the next 52 years. The two shared four children together; Brandon, Stefan, Charity, and Todd, and were also blessed with three grandchildren that knew her as Mia; Caleb, Hailey, and Genevieve. Through thick and thin, good times and hard times, Janet was unshakeable as a Godly wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend. She loved her family more than she loved herself and constantly poured herself into making sure everyone was comfortable and taken care of. She was fiercely loyal and lived her life as an offering to those around her, always thinking of others before herself. Janet was truly selfless and soft-hearted, not only giving you the shirt off her back, but her shoes too.

Janet loved family game nights, family dinners, and was a burning beacon of holiday spirit. Each year, as the holiday season approached, her excitement was always palpable and infectious. Her favorite pastime was spending time with her family. Whether it was in person, on the phone, through text, or even through FaceTime, she was all about family. She had two ‘happy places’ that always brought a smile to her face and peace to her heart, the koi pond in the backyard and the beach house at Crystal Beach. Her passing leaves a void in those that loved her and knew her and that void will not be filled on this side of heaven. Her family finds hope and comfort in the knowledge that we will all see her again soon. What a reunion it will be!

Janet was preceded in death by her father Hubert (Big Cat) Douglas, mother, Anne Corinne Douglas, daughter, Charity Anslow, and son Todd Anslow.

Janet is survived by her husband, James Anslow; son Brandon Anslow (wife) Michelle; son Stefan Anslow; grandchildren Caleb (wife) Madison, Hailey, and Genevieve; honorary sons Thomas Bradshaw and John Roten; and siblings Greg Douglas, Tess Murphy, and Jeff Douglas. She also leaves many other family members and friends that love her and will miss her.

God Bless all those that knew her and loved her. Please know that she loved you right back
