Janel Marie Guilliot Godbout of Houston, Texas died on Friday August 5, 2022 at age 83 in Tuscany Village Nursing Facility in Pearland, Texas. Janel was the youngest child of O.C. “Dan” Guilliot and Lydia David Guilliot of Lafayette, Louisiana. She was preceded in death by her parents, her 1st husband Robert Stein and stepbrother Bob Guilliot. She is survived by her brother O.C. Guilliot and sister-in-law Mona Guilliot, stepsiblings Sally Guilliot Lane, Bill Guilliot, her husband Michael Godbout and children Sharon Stein, Mike Stein and wife Cindy, Lydia Eve Stein and husband Hao, John Robert Stein and wife Helen and several nephews and nieces and their families. She had 8 grandchildren: Erin, Cavanaugh, Elise, Christopher, Jake, Sam, Megan and Alex and 2 great grandchildren: River and Hayze who love her very much.
Janel was raised in Youngsville, Louisiana and got an associate degree from USL in Lafayette, Louisiana. She moved to Orange, Texas and finally to Houston, Texas where she worked in the environmental and conservation business and chemical industry as a secretary. She loved to travel and did a lot of it in her lifetime. She went on assignments with her husband Michael to Halifax, Nova Scotia, Moscow and Samara Russia, St. Croix, USVI and Bogota, Columbia. She traveled throughout Europe, Egypt, and several provinces in Canada and 30 states in the USA. She enjoyed family and friends and was loved by them all. She was an avid reader and loved watching Astro’s baseball live and on TV. She also liked westerns. She especially loved spending time with friends John and Marlene Reistino and Bill and Elena Patton who she met in Russia.
She will be cremated, and her final resting place will be at the St. Anne’s Catholic Cemetery near her parents in Youngsville, Louisiana. May God bless her and love her for eternity. We will all miss her!
