September 7, 1938 – January 19, 2025

James Lenard Casady passed away on his way to worship the Lord Sunday morning, January 19, 2025, in Alvin, Texas, He was 86.  

James was born in Merkel, Texas, on September 7, 1938, and spent his early years helping on his family's farm. In high school, he was a member of the FFA and a running back for the Trent Gorillas football team. He attended college until he was drafted into the Army. He was stationed at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio until he was honorably discharged.

After roughnecking in the Permin Basin oilfields, he worked for El Paso Products in Odessa, Texas.  On September 16, 1966, he married Elizabeth Ann Schriver.  A few short years later they welcomed two sons into the family. In 1976, James accepted a position at Amoco Chocolate Bayou and moved the family to Alvin, Texas. James was a dedicated member of Alvin Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. He was a Master Mason at the Alvin Masonic Lodge 762.

James is survived by his loving and caring wife of 58 years, Ann, his son Len and wife Jennifer, his son Michael and wife Elizabeth, and grandchildren Michelle Casady (Matt Wilson), Joshua Casady, Ashley Casady, Michaela Casady, and Ethan Casady.  He was preceded in death by his parents John Lenard and Donnie Casady.

Friends are cordially invited to the visitation with the family on Monday, January 27, 2025 at 9:00 A.M. followed by the funeral service at 10:00 A.M. at Alvin Missionary Baptist Church, 2101 W. Lang, Alvin, Texas 77511 with Rev. Justin Gatlin officiating. Following the service, James will be laid to rest at Oak Park Cemetery, 300 Oak Park Dr., Alvin, TX 77511.
