In Loving Memory

Jackie Scopel

January 17, 1940 – February 23, 2023

Jackie Scopel, 83, of Manvel, Texas, currently residing in Gonzales, Texas, passed away peacefully on February 23, 2023. He was at his home, surrounded by family, at the time of his passing.

Jackie is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Carolyn, and three children, Denise Scopel (fiancé Randy Reed), Jack (Theresa) Scopel, and Jeff (Suzanne) Scopel. He is also survived by his grandchildren Leslie (Henry) Seddon, Jason (Jessica) Scopel, Robby (Camille) Scopel, Lindsay (Adam) Rumenapp, Morgan-Ann Miller, Tamra (Wesley) Loftin, Corey (Erica) Scopel, Justin (Presleigh) Scopel, and Layne (Nicole) Scopel, as well as his sister, Marie (Dennis) Varner. He also leaves behind 24 great- grandchildren and many treasured friends.

Jackie was preceded in death by his parents, James and Josephine Scopel, son, Jimmy Scopel, great-grandson, Colton Scopel, brother, Siro and sister in law, Pat Scopel.

Jackie had many different occupations. Some of those being a farmer, cattle rancher, law officer, and he also had an oilfield service company for many years. His all-time favorite was being a cowboy and he could certainly “cowboy up”! Jackie worked hard to provide for his family and could play even harder. He loved a good joke and could be somewhat of a prankster. Even in his last days, he made us laugh. He will be missed terribly and forever be in our hearts.

Friends are cordially invited to the visitation with the family on Saturday, March 4, 2023 at 2:00 P.M. with the funeral service to follow at 3:00 P.M. at Jeter Memorial Funeral Home, 311 N. Friendswood Dr., Friendswood, Texas 77546 (281) 992-7200.  Interment will follow at Manvel Cemetery in Manvel, Texas.

Condolences may be sent to the family in care of Jeter Memorial Funeral Home at www.jeterfuneralhome.com.

Junior and I will always remember Jackie’s smile and funny stories. He was some part of our life from early adults through old folks, whether it was at the Texaco Station, Rosie’s, or building his home just to name a few. He was fortunate to marry the prettiest girl in County, who did an amazing job caring for him. He fought hard, but when God is ready for you to go, you have to leave. Our sincerest sympathies to the family.

Our prayers and thoughts go out to the Scopel family. Jackie was a good man to me, he taught me to think I was a real cowboy, and I will always remember that. Ride easy my friend, and may God Bless You!

I am so sorry to hear of losing Jackie! I remember so many family reunions where he joked and played and enlivened everyone's spirits. His absence will be such a big hole whenever we gather from now on! May he rest in peace and Light Perpetual shine upon him. I offer my prayers for his close friends and family. May God surround you all with His peace and love!

  6. My heart is sadden as I heard he has passedon to be with the LORD! I know he is in a better place now though we will miss him…He was a true cowboy. He was always gentlemen … He was a servant of our community for many many years. Thank you Jackie Scopel! RIP
