Italo Ubal

June 2, 1931 – April 12, 2022

Italo Ubal was born in Rivera, Uruguay in 1931 and grew up in Montevideo, Uruguay. He moved to the U.S. in 1973 and lived over half his life in Atlanta, Georgia and Chicago, Illinois.  Italo died on April 12, 2022 at his home in Houston, Texas at the age of 90.  His body is being held at Jeter Memorial Funeral Home in Friendswood, Texas.  Interment services will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery (7801 Gulf Freeway, on the southbound service road to IH 45 at Hughes Road, Dickinson, Texas).  Upon learning that Dorita was cremated, Maria obtained a permit from the Government of Uruguay to take Dorita’s remains on the plane to Texas to keep until Italo’s death.  Next, she found a cemetery that would give permission to put her cremated remains inside the casket with Italo’s body.  She honored Italo’s wishes for his wife to be buried by his side.  The spoken words of prayers at Italo’s interment service will be given by Rev. James H. Kuczynski, M.S. from Mary Queen Parish Church in Friendswood, TX 77546.   Burial services will be held on Wednesday April 20, 2022 at 10:30 a.m., along with the cremated remains of his predeceased dear loving wife of 53 years, Dorita Garcia, in Italo’s section of St. Gregory’s G North-Lot 100-Space 3.  Italo is survived by his loving daughter who he raised as his real daughter, Maria Ubal-Rivera (Julio), five grandchildren Yvana Sirtoli (Murillo), Vanessa, Ariana, Lucas and Sofia Rivera. Italo is also survived by wife Dorita (predeceased), step-son Carlos (predeceased), step grandchildren Alejandro, Arturo and Gabriela and step great grandchildren. Italo was a dear loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, grand uncle & great grand uncle.  Italo was a skilled carpenter taught by a Jewish master carpenter of fine furnishings in Montevideo, Uruguay.  He was also the owner of his own grocery store “Provision Italo Ubal” at Pedro Giralt 4635, La Teja in Montevideo, Uruguay. Later he owned his own Coca Cola Truck to distribute various Coca Cola drink products for the Coca Cola Company in Montevideo, Uruguay.  He worked for Mr. Mitchell’s Company at The Woodlands, Houston, Texas remodeling and maintaining housing apartments & became his own builder of two homes in Shangrila, Uruguay that he owned for business income. He was loved by all who knew him, and was very well cared for by Sunset Hospice and all his physicians at The Texas Medical Center in Houston, especially his main doctors, Michele P. Sartori, M.D., F.A.C.C. (Cardiologist) & Yvonne Kew, M.D., Ph.D. (Neurologist) who lovingly gave the title to Italo as the “The strongest man in the World!”  Memorial Contributions may be made to Mary Queen Parish Church in Friendswood, TX 77546.   Italo had a very kind soul. We will miss his incredible personality, outgoing sense of humor, unconditional heart of gold and his enthusiast spirit and fighter of life.

No sabía que era carpintero, teníamos eso en común, bueno es lindo saber de su recorrido en este mundo y ahora comienza su verdadero recorrido con Jesús y sus seres amados en el cielo.
