In Loving Memory

Halen Douglas Lee, Jr.

July 30, 1945 – May 12, 2023

Halen Douglas Lee, Jr. “Doug” , 77, of League City, Texas passed away on May 12, 2023. He was born on July 30, 1945, to Halen Douglas Lee, Sr. and Mary Frances McClure Lee in Atlanta, Georgia where his father was stationed in the Navy. The family grew up following their father’s career up and down the Mississippi valley.

Doug graduated from Pine Tree High School in Longview, Texas. He is a veteran of the United States Air Force, serving in the Philippines. He graduated from Sam Houston State University. Doug married Maria Norma Guerra on February 7, 1970. They moved to Houston and had their beloved son, Michael Douglas. Shortly after, they bought a house and they and their neighbors made this a close-knit neighborhood that became their extended family. Doug and Norma helped raise an entire generation of neighborhood kids who still consider each other family.

Doug was active in Enduro motorcycle racing, taking weekend camping trips with the family for many years. Doug was a skilled mechanic and craftsman and truly liked his coworkers on the team at Hightower Metal Works. He would bid the jobs that his team would build. Before he retired Doug and Norma moved to League City to be near Mike, daughter-in- law Alita, and grandchildren Makenna and Landon. Doug had a great sense of humor and loved entertaining. He was friendly to everyone, and many people knew Doug as a true friend. One of his favorite activities in recent years was going fishing with his grandson Landon. Doug seemed to always take the Boy Scout motto “Do a Good Turn Daily” in earnest and every day tried to make someone else’s life better. He was preceded in death by his parents, Halen and Frances Lee, his wife, Norma, and son Mike. He is survived by his granddaughter, Makenna; grandson, Landon; daughter-in-law, Alita; brother, Dennis; sister, Dianne Lee Brunner, many nephews, nieces, and many cousins and friends.

Friends are cordially invited to the visitation with the family on Tuesday, June 6, 2023, at 1:00 P.M. with the memorial service to follow at 2:00 P.M. at Jeter Memorial Funeral Home, 311 N. Friendswood Dr., Friendswood, Tx.  77546. (281) 992-7200 with Rev. Jerry Stark officiating.

    1. I don't remember a time that I didn't know Doug, Norma and Mike. We were motorcycle family and shared countless adventures and memories. My life was far richer with them in it, and they are all missed. My love, thoughts and prayers are with his family. Doug may gone but will never be forgotten! ❤

  3. Doug will be missed by so many. He had a true love for people. He was one of the first people I met when I moved to Meadow Bend. He pulled over in his golf cart to get acquainted. My prayers are for the family.

  4. Condolences to the family. We only got to enjoy Doug for a short time but each time was full of smiles and fun! He had such great stories and a fun sense of humor. We really enjoyed our time at get togethers, watching games in garages and his adventure stories dying golf cart rides!! He will be missed dearly by his neighborhood family!!

I was stationed in Loredo with Doug in '69 and '70. We even roomed together. Our adventures were many, and we became and remained very good friends. Doug, Norma, and Michael were very important parts of our lives when we all lived in Houston. We motorcycled with them for many years. Norma always made the best cheese enchiladas. Doug was even in our wedding in 1976. Unfortunately, we are just now finding out about his death, so we missed all of his services. We are both deeply saddened by this news. We pray that the family is healed by God's mercy and love. Eternal rest grant unto him and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace. Amen
