Gloria Katherine Dominy Baker, age 92, of Friendswood, passed away peacefully on March 19, 2025. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Benny Ray Baker.
She is survived by her three children, son Mike Baker and his wife Kim Sands Baker, their daughters, Allison and husband Bryce Docker, great grandchildren Jack, Bo and Michael and daughter Kate Baker. son Jackie Lee Baker and his wife Jennifer “JL” Carpenter Baker and son Phillip and Anna Wilkening Baker, great-granddaughter Emmie June and daughter Camryn and Ryan Spyker and great-grandson Beau, and Kendall and Nate. Daughter Alicia Baker and her husband John Williams (preceded in death), daughter Kristin Williams and son Evan and his wife Audrey Williams, great-granddaughters Harper and Sierra Williams.
Born in a small East Texas town, Gloria graduated as a Salutatorian from High School. She married a month before her eighteenth birthday and moved to San Antonio where Benny served in the United States Air Force.
After serving in the Air Force the young couple returned to East Texas where Benny ran a TV/Radio repair shop while attending Sam Houston University. Gloria kept the books and took care of Mike.
After graduating and starting his first job, Benny and Gloria moved to Fort Worth where they welcomed the birth of Jack and Alicia. Seven years later Benny accepted a position with NASA and made their new home in Houston/Friendswood.
Gloria forged a successful career as a real estate agent back here on Earth while Benny had his head in the stars. She helped countless families move to Friendswood. She always had a knack for remembering lots of phone numbers. Later on, she went on to develop local neighborhoods and communities.
Her warm spirit touched the lives of others whether substituting at the local school or teaching VBS in the summers. She always portrayed kindness and generosity to all.
Gloria grew in her Christian faith while attending First Baptist Church, Friendswood, St. Andrews Episcopal Church, Pearland, and the Friends Church, Friendswood. She truly enjoyed the monthly luncheons with the “Quaker Ladies”.
She was the glue of her family and taught her children many life lessons. She was a friend to all who knew her and will be missed by many.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, March 27, 2025 at Jeter Memorial Funeral Home, 311 N. Friendswood Dr., Friendswood, TX. 77546 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Funeral services will be held at The Friends Church. 502 S. Friendswood Dr, Friendswood, TX 77546 on Friday, March 28, 2025 at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Friendswood Friends Cemetery in Friendswood, Texas.

Her family finds comfort in knowing she is now in the loving arms of Jesus and reunited with her husband in eternal peace.

Have known Gloria and family since 1965. She was a true friend and we had some wonderful times together. I will miss her. She can rejoice with my late husband Tom. RIP Gloria
