July 15, 1954 – October 9, 2021
Glenn Jameson Miller was called home to be with his Lord & Savior on October 9, 2021.
Glenn was born at the James Connally Air Force Base Hospital in Waco, Texas on July 15, 1954 and spent all of his 67 years living life to the fullest with a positive attitude and smile on his face.
Glenn joined NASA in 1984 as a structural engineer and never retired. He enjoyed the uniqueness of the job and the people he worked with throughout the years. He viewed every problem as a challenge to be overcome and his knowledge and determination contributed greatly to the Space Shuttle Program and recent SpaceX launches.
Glenn's greatest joy, however, was his family. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, and “Grampy". Glenn married his wife, Karen, in 1980 and together they raised their two sons in Friendswood, Texas. Glenn was able to share his problem solving skills with his sons through countless garage & backyard building projects and their many sailing, kayaking, and camping adventures. Grampy had already started this same training process with his grandkids and was very much looking forward to doing more with each one of them in the future.
Glenn spent many Saturdays in recent years working with the Friendswood United Methodist “Weekend Warriors” group doing whatever was needed to help out those in his community whose homes were in need of repairs or needed wheelchair ramps built. It was his way of putting his faith into action.
Glenn was preceded in death by his father Don Miller, mother Ann Miller and brother Donn Miller.
He is survived by his wife, Karen Miller of Friendswood, Texas, son Jason Miller and wife Shawn Miller of Fairbanks, Alaska, son Eric Miller of Anchorage, Alaska, grandchildren Henry (7), Walter (6) and Molly (3) all of Fairbanks Alaska. Also stepmother, Esther Miller, brother Kenn Miller and wife Danielle Miller, Aunt & Uncle Rex & Sallie Sandifer, niece Holly Dockal, nephew Donn Miller and many loving and supportive cousins all living in Texas.
A memorial service for Glenn will take place at Friendswood United Methodist Church at 2 pm on Monday, October 18, 2021 in Wesley Hall, off of FM 2351. There will be a family and friends gathering with coffee and desserts before the service at 1pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Friendswood United Methodist Church with a designation memo to Weekend Warriors for Glenn or to the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church / designation memo Endowment Fund.
Glenn and his family have been very blessed to have the spiritual care and support of both the Friendswood United Methodist Church and the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, Nassau Bay.
Condolences may be sent to the Miller family in care of Jeter Memorial Funeral Home at www.jeterfuneralhome.com.

It was an honor to have been able to work with Glenn at NASA. I appreciate his engineering ability, his friendship and his patience (especially when he and I had different “engineering opinions”). Glenn, you were right. I’m sorry I held up progress until I came around to your (and most of the team’s ) thinking, but we got there. Rest In Peace.
To my neighbor, you were always outside working in the yard or working on one of your projects.
Richard and I will miss you waving and your smile.
God bless you. Rest In Peace
I had the honor and pleasure of working with Glenn at NASA. He was an extremely humble, kind, joyful and caring person; and was an excellent engineer. Glenn, along with a small number of other engineers, was responible for the success of the Space Shuttle "tiles" protecting the Orbiter during the intense temperature environmenr. The world is a better place because of Glenn.
Rest in peace my dear friend.
Very saddened to hear of Glenn passing.
He was a great engineer, and also was loved by all who worked with him.
He treated people with respect and kindness.
His work in Structures was exemplary.
He will be missed by all who knew him.
Judy and I both enjoyed meeting and knowing Glenn though UMC week-end Warriors and gardening projects. He was always happy and willing to help in anyway possible. Volunteers with his skills, vivacious nature and willing attitude to pitch in on any project is hard to find these days. At true Christian who will be missed by many of us.
Was blessed beyond measure to work with Glenn on Weekend Warrior Projects. Glenn was easily the most energetic of us all. Such a giving person who loved to laugh and joke all day long. He will be missed but Glenn’s example to others will be his continued legacy here at Friendswood UMC.
30 years ago, I nominated Glenn for the NASA mentor award stating, "Glenn Miller has made a favorable impact on my life and my career that will forever be a factor in my future decisions." And it was. I could always call on Glenn or reflect on his example to find the answer. He was a bright light on a foggy sea. Rest in peace, Glenn Miller, knowing your bright light now shines down from the stars.
My heartfelt condolences to your wife and sons, who were always your greatest source of pride and joy.
To Glenn's family. I am so sorry for your loss. God bless you. I am glad all of you had the chance to be together and make special memories on his trip to Alaska.
My sincerest sympathies to Karen and their sons. Glenn was a dear friend and Christian brother. We enjoyed many times together at TAMU Dunn Hall. Glenn’s and his roommates always had an open door and time to talk. His laugh and energy were contagious. My thoughts and prayers are with the family and recollection of Glenn’s inspiration for life.
