In Loving Memory

Gerald Anthony Vallow

March 18, 1935 – December 31, 2023

Gerald Anthony Vallow, 88, of Pearland, Texas passed away peacefully at his home on December 31, 2023 surrounded by his family and loved ones following a brief battle with cancer.  Gerald, lovingly known as “Pop” to his grandchildren, was born in Port Arthur, Texas, grew up in Lake Charles, Louisiana and graduated from LaGrange High School.  He attended and graduated from McNeese State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree and earned a commission in the U.S. Army through the R.O.T.C. program where he served several years on active duty and in the Army Reserves.  He was honorably discharged at the rank of Captain.  Upon moving back to Lake Charles after his military service he met his future wife, Judith Marcantel and started his career in finance and banking.  Gerald married Judith on 1 June 1963 and eventually settled in Jennings Louisiana where they decided to raise their family.  Gerald continued to work in the banking industry and graduated from Louisiana State University School of Banking.  He worked for Calcasieu Marine National Bank, Bank of SW Louisiana, and later, Mid South National Bank, retiring after a 35-year career in the banking industry.

Pop is survived by his wife of 60 years, Judith; sons, Dwayne (Monique), David (Nina), and daughter Jenee Jurgensen (Steve); grandchildren, Casey, Megan, Jared, Jonathan, JohnMichael, and Jillian; great grandchildren, Evan, Mackenzie, Kaylin, Dillan, Isaac, and Owen.

Gerald was preceded in death by his parents, Calise and Leila Vallow, brother, Robert Vallow and sister Natalie Barton.

Gerald was a lifelong and devoted member of the Catholic Church, where he attended Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church in Jennings, La. and later, Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Manvel, Texas.

Pop will be sorely missed and we will dearly cherish the many years, and all the fond memories we had with him but take comfort in and rejoice that he is with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Friends are cordially invited to the visitation with the family on Friday, January 5, 2024 at 12:00 P.M. with the Funeral Service to follow at 2:00 P.M. at Jeter Memorial Funeral Home, 311 N. Friendswood Dr., Friendswood, Texas 77546.
