In Loving Memory

George Kenneth Williams

September 20, 1931 – December 30, 2024

George Kenneth Williams was born on September 20, 1931, and his soul left this world to be with Jesus on December 30, 2024.

He proudly served in the US Air Force for 4 years, spending most of his time in Korea.  He worked as an electrician and then a Mechanic and Transportation Foreman for 31 years with Houston Lighting & Power (Centerpoint).   Since George could never sit still after retirement, he worked for Reid Vacuum, the Houston Sports Association and Precision Electric.

We will remember his smile, special phrases, teasing, energy, love for life and volunteering, love of deer hunting, working outside, long-sleeved plaid shirts, hatred for squirrels, and the Korean veteran hat that he never went without. He worked very hard all his life, and he made a difference in the lives of many.

He enjoyed his time as an endowed member of Alvin Masonic Lodge and earned the Golden Trowel award.   He was known as the “Barbecue Man” in Alvin for all the BBQ fundraisers for Alvin Masonic Lodge and Alvin Eastern Star.  He was also a Past Patron, Dreamweaver Award recipient, and Life Member of Alvin Eastern Star.  On Sundays, you could see his smiling face greeting visitors at the New Hope Church 288 Campus and he loved volunteering with his friends on Thursday.

He will be missed by his daughter, Nanette (Paul) Kettler, granddaughter, Stacy (Adam) Sikes, grandson, Kenneth Christopher “KC” (Gabriella Crivilare) Kettler, and five great grandchildren, his sister, Ida Fletcher of Bisbee, Arizona, and his brother, Jerry Williams of Houston, as well as many other cousins, nieces, and nephews.

He is enjoying a reunion with his loving wife of 60 years, Joe Ann Mitchell, parents, Vesta B. McClung and Clyde Emerson Williams, his sisters, Velva Williams, Thelma Bivens, Ima (Homer) Hallford, Josephine (Bob) Reynolds, Pauline (Herman) Moffitt, Billie Jean Jennings, his brothers, Clyde (Violet) Williams, Emit (Alvah) Williams as well as his family and friends gone before.

The family would like to thank all the caregivers of Serenity Gardens in Friendswood, especially Rusty and Dolores, for the loving care and patience that they extended to George during his 4 ½ years there.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests any donations be made to New Hope Church or Alvin Masonic Lodge.

Pallbearers will be Kenneth (K.C.) Kettler, Adam Sikes, Tim Klein, Jesse Bowman, Justin Elder, Shaun Chiles, and Michael Lansford.

Honorary Pallbearers will be J. Don Little and Don Hultquist.

Friends are cordially invited to the visitation with the family on Friday, January 10, 2025 from 5:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M. at Jeter Memorial Funeral Home, 311 N. Friendswood Dr., Friendswood, TX 77546 (281) 992-7200.  Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2025 at 1:00 P.M. at New Hope Church Alvin Campus, 221 N. Gordon St., Alvin, TX 77511 with Pastor Jeremy Gundling and Pastor Vince Elder officiating. Interment will follow at Confederate Cemetery in Alvin, TX.  We invite family and friends to join us and celebrate together afterward at Alvin Masonic Lodge.

Condolences may be sent to the family in care of Jeter Memorial Funeral Home at www.jeterfuneralhome.com.
