Garen "Gary" Wilbur Jessen

August 15, 1939 – May 18, 2025

Garen (Gary) Wilbur Jessen passed away at his residence in Friendswood, Texas. He was born in Waterloo, Iowa on August 15, 1939 to the late Wilbur G. Jessen and Caroline Stoedter.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife of 57 years, Pam Jessen and his sister, Marlene Livonia (Jessen).

He is survived by his Daughter, Jody L. Kuchta (husband Mike); Sons, Mark D. Jessen (wife Lisa), Gary G. Jessen (wife Tracy), and Joshua J. Jessen (fiancé Leah); seven Grandchildren Jacob (wife Chelsea) Kuchta, Zachary (wife Kadie) Kuchta, Hope Jessen, Zoe Jessen, Carlos Jessen, Joshua Jessen, and Destiny Dotson, five Great Grandchildren, Jameson Kuchta, Lily Kuchta, Tate Kuchta, Jillian Kuchta, Ellie Dotson, and Brother David Jessen (wife Wendy).

Gary graduated from Roosevelt High School in Des Moines, Iowa and went on to serve in the United States Navy on board ASW Destroyers in the Pacific. After his service in the US Navy, he returned home to Des Moines, Iowa. There he met the love of his life Palma (Pam) Chiodo and they were married soon after. They were blessed with four children; Jody, Mark, Gary, and Joshua.

With his experience in the US Navy and interest in electronics, Gary went on to obtain a two-year Diploma in Electronic Technology and then later a BS in Computer Applications from the University of Houston. He worked in the Defense Industry for most of his career.

Gary was active and served as usher for many years and was active in the Respect Life Committee at Mary Queen Catholic Church.

Rosary and Visitation will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 27, 2025 from 6 PM to 8 PM at the Jeter Memorial Funeral Home, 311 N. Friendswood Dr., Friendswood, Texas 77546 with a rosary being recited at 6 PM. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 28, 2025 at 10:00 A.M. at Mary Queen Catholic Church, 606 Cedarwood Dr., Friendswood, TX 77546.  Father Thomas Vellappallil, M.S. will serve as Celebrant.  Interment will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery under the direction of Jeter Memorial Funeral Home.
