In Loving Memory

Elizabeth "Liz" Scruggs Koster

September 1, 1948 – December 10, 2024

Elizabeth Scruggs Koster, 76 of Alvin, Texas passed away on December 10, 2024 at HCA hospital in Webster, Texas. She was born on September 1, 1948 to parents Charles and Thora Scruggs.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years Don Koster, sister Alice Walters, brothers George (Cheryl), Charles (Peggy), and Robert Scruggs, son Mike (Tracey) Koster, 4 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, twin sister Margaret Kent, sister-in-law Loraine Scruggs, and son Jeffery Koster.

Liz spent her entire life in Alvin, graduating from Alvin High School in 1968. She grew up on her parent’s farm just east of Alvin where her and her siblings enjoyed living the farm life and developed a true love of nature that stayed with her all of her life.

For the most part, Liz was a home maker all of her adult life but as the boys grew older, she began working as a clerk in a print shop that was owned by her good friends, Morgan and Joyce McMillan. When that shop was sold, she went to work for Gordon and Debbie Green at Green Ink Printing in Alvin until she ultimately retired in 1998.

Liz was a great seamstress and truly loved to sew, but as time went by, she developed a love for cross stitching, which was introduced to her by her twin sister Margaret, and she was a true artisan at that skill and produced some beautiful pieces. She especially loved making clothes or costumes for her grandchildren and gifting some of her cross-stitching pieces to friends and family.

Liz truly loved her family and her family truly loved her and she will be missed by her family and all who knew her.

Friends are invited to the visitation with family at Jeter Memorial Funeral Home, 311 N. Friendswood Drive Friendswood, Texas on December 16, 2024 from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM. 1. I went to school with Elizabeth and her twin sister Margaret. Most fond memories of having their mother being our Brownie and Girl Scout leader. This would have been mid 1950’s and very early 1960’s. Peace and comfort to the family.

I remember the twins! I knew all the Scruggs kids.
As a little girl, I remember playing many hours with the Scruggs. As I have gotten older, they have been on my mind as well as many others from my past!
So sorry to hear about Elizabeth's passing and hope the rest of the family is well
    Lovingly,
    Betty Brouse Myers
