Edith Lorraine Johnson Linson, 93, passed away peacefully on August 20, 2021 in League City Texas after months long battle from the effects of a stroke. She will be dearly missed by family and friends.
Edith was born in Bastrop County Texas on August 11, 1928 to Clay Johnson and Vera Johnson near the town of Red Rock. Her family moved to Austin Texas when she was a young girl. She later married Harold W. Allen with whom she had three children and moved to Houston in the early 1950’s with sons, Randall and Richard and had the third son Robin soon after arriving to Houston.
In 1962, she moved with her family to Friendswood and remained in the area for the next 60 years. Her successful Real Estate career spanned almost 50 years prior to her retirement. She began her Real Estate career in Friendswood selling new homes in Friendswood for Buck Hausman and Ed Stuart in the Lori Woods subdivision at the time that NASA was staffing in its early years. She also worked for Workman Banfield Realty during these times. She then became a top producing branch manager for Foster Financial Mortgage Company. In the early 1980’s she was co-founder of Hardcastle Real Estate where she mentored many of today’s top producers in Pearland and Friendswood Markets. She later spent several years with Re/Max Friendswood Pearland. She always took pride in the fact that she developed relationships that brought her multigenerational customers from the same family. Serving people was truly something that came naturally to her and brought her much joy.
She loved her family very much and was known to volunteer within her church and community. She was a member of the Friendswood Friends Church and supported the church and church missionaries until the end. But family was always of upmost importance to her. Edith loved being a mother to Randy Allen, Rick Allen and wife Sandy Allen as well as Rob Allen and wife Christine Allen. As grandmother to Melissa Allen, Andrea Jenkins and Luke Allen, she was always available for shopping, travel and other adventures. In her later years she took so much pride in the great grandchildren Carleigh Jenkins, Trey Surovik, Travis Allen and Elena Allen.
She enjoyed gardening, sewing, antiquing, and remodeling the homes lived in as well as a few that were flipped for the income needed to help support her family. Her trips to Colorado with her best friend and sister Liz Jarmon along with brother-in-law Ralph Jarmon brought her great joy. Edith, Liz and Ralph shared a keen sense of adventure and these trips always brought new stories told with laughter and wonderment of how Ralph managed to keep them focused on arriving in Colorado after stopping at every antique store between Houston and her ranch in Ridgeway, Colorado.
She was preceded in death by her parents Clay and Vera Johnson, son Randall Clay Allen, sister Liz Jarmon, brother in-law Ralph Jarmon and daughter in law Sandy Allen.
Those left behind will greatly miss her. Those are sons, Richard Allen of Whitney Texas, Robin Allen and wife Christine “Niki” Allen of Pearland Texas, stepson Mark Allen of Houston, Texas. Also left behind 3 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren and Sharon Crider and Terry Jarmon niece and nephew and their children, and grandchildren
As a friend of hers told me, she spent her dash well.
She will be buried at High Grove Cemetery near Red Rock Texas at a later date.

Sorry to hear of Edith's passing. We crossed paths many times in the early days of real estate in Friendswood. We spent time together at Workman and Remax Friendswood-Pearland. She was a delightful lady and worked hard at anything she did. She will be missed by friends and family. Prayers for comfort during this time to her family.

In 1966, my husband and I came to Friendswood to look at houses. The first person we met was Edith. She and her co-worker, Elsie Mills, were our first acquaintances. They "sold" us on Friendswood. Edith was such a wonderful person. She will be missed.
I have treasured memories of times I spent with Randy, Ricky, Sandy, Missy, Andrea, and Luke.
For over 30 years, we have called Edith my friend. Such a wonderful person, straight forward and honest in her dealings and she raised her kids right to do business the same way. We will miss you Edith and all of the stories you would tell about your dealings with Charles' dad.
She will be missed. She was a strong, independent woman with a caring heart. I will always remember her wonderful cooking and how much love she always showed me and my family. Love you and miss you Gram!
I just learned of Edith’s passing. Her devotion and hard work made Hardcastle Real Estate the thriving business that it was. She was a good and caring woman. Her memory leaves a smile on my face💕🌸

Keith and I married in 1957. As soon as we returned from our honeymoon we set up housekeeping in Houston. The next Sunday we attended Park Place Methodist Church and joined. That week Edith called me to welcome me. That became the beginning of a wonderful friendship.
My mother, Joan Morrison Kirby, was a school mate of Edith back in Austin and enjoyed a lifelong friendship with her Sissy Stanford and Bucket Wright. They gathered for many Austin HS class reunions, at her place in Wimberley for food, fellowship and playing 42. Her sister, Liz, was my Aunt Jessie’s tennis partner in school and a legal secretary at Mayor Day & Caldwell where my husband worked. I’m sorry we lost touch during the pandemic. Please accept our condolences on the loss of your sweet mother.
