Dora Frances (Kelly) Latham, age 89, of Friendswood, Texas passed away, July 31, 2023. Dora was born on March 10, 1934 in Kosse, Texas. She found the love of her life, Tommy Latham, while attending Milby High School. They were married in 1953 and spent the next 63 years being an example for everyone in their family. After raising her children, Dora graduated from Houston Community College in 1971 with a nursing degree. Immediately thereafter, she began her nursing career on the cardiology floor at Methodist Hospital in Houston, Texas.
Dora was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend who was preceded in death by her parents, George Willis Kelly and Almeta KelIy, husband Tommy Latham, sister Ruth Simpson, daughter Cindy Wheeler, and grandchildren, Kristi Robinson, Clint Childress, and Mitchell Childress.
She is survived by her children, Judy Childress and husband, Tolbert, Tom Latham and wife, Cheryl, Kelly Baird and husband, Don; sisters Joyce Ivey and Marilyn Neely; grandchildren, Chris Robinson, Kacey Hale and husband, Matt, Karley Kirk and husband, Kevin, Heather Childress, Zac Latham, Marshall Childress and wife, Katie, Ross Baird and partner Jonathan Estrada, Jacob Baird and wife Johanna, Nick Latham; great grandchildren, Trevor Robinson and wife, Amber, Sydney Robinson, Kolton Kirk, Kolby Kirk, Hadley Hale, Eli Childress, Makaiah Baird, and coming soon great, great, granddaughter, Harper; along with numerous nieces, nephews and their children. Dora never missed attending events for her children and grandchildren and was a big cheerleader for all they pursued.
Dora loved to entertain and throw parties for her large family. Everyone was always welcome. We affectionately named her home in Friendswood, Texas, “Club Dora”.
A celebration of life will be held on August 5th from 6:00pm to 9:00pm at a family residence in Friendswood, Texas. Please call or text 281-797-3156 for the address. Wear your Astros gear for this casual gathering. Dinner and drinks will be served.
