Donald Hugh Orrell

December 3, 1935 – December 25, 2023

After a courageous battle with Parkinson’s Disease, Donald Hugh Orrell of Alvin, Texas passed away on December 25, 2023.  He was born December 3, 1935.  His parents, John and Lillie Orrell, raised Don in El Dorado, Arkansas. 

After graduating from El Dorado High School, Don attended the University of Southern Mississippi and then joined the Army National Guard.

On June 6, 1959, Don married Coral Ann McIntyre from El Dorado, Arkansas.  In 1963, Don and Coral Ann moved to Alvin. Don was employed by Monsanto at Chocolate Bayou.

Don was preceded in death by his wife, Coral Ann Orrell; parents, John and Lillie Orrell; his sister and brother-in-law, Richard and Jackie Vasquez; and his in-laws, Jesse and Ruth McIntyre. 

Surviving are his daughters, Tammi Lansford and husband Mike of Alvin; Kelli Huggins of Manvel; his three grandchildren, Kristen Gary and husband Austin, Jim Lansford and wife Katherine, and Lauren Lansford; and three great grandchildren, Parker Gary, Madeline Lansford and Andrew Lansford.

Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, December 29, 2023, with services following at 11:00 a.m. at Jeter Funeral Home in Friendswood with Skip Youngcourt officiating. Interment will follow at Confederate Cemetery in Alvin.

Pallbearers will include Austin Gary, Kristen Gary, James Holt, Kelli Huggins, Jim Lansford, Lauren Lansford, Mike Lansford, and Tammi Lansford.

The family would like to give special thanks to the outstanding care given by Evening Star Assisted Living and Choice Hospice.
