In Loving Memory

Dennis Wayne Hopkins

January 28, 1973 – December 26, 2024

Dennis Wayne Hopkins, age 51, went to his heavenly home on Thursday, December 26, 2024, after a short battle with cancer. He was born on January 28, 1973, in Galveston, Texas, to parents Bruce and Cheryl.

Dennis lived a courageous life. He never met a stranger and made everyone he met feel like family. He had numerous gifts, which he demonstrated through his successful career as a pipefitter. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, and watching football while barbecuing. One of Dennis’s greatest accomplishments was overcoming life’s hardships and building a strong relationship with Jesus.

During the last three and a half years of his life, he shared his wisdom, faith, and compassion with authenticity. Through his church, Dream City, and his involvement in NA, Dennis became a beacon of hope and strength. His renewed faith and determination inspired him to help others navigate their own journeys to recovery and discover a relationship with God.

Dennis was a loving father, a loyal friend, and a proud grandfather. His children, Matthew, Hunter, and Kylynn, were his pride and joy, and his baby granddaughter, Makenna, was the light of his life. To his family and friends, he was a storyteller whose tales brought laughter and joy—a man whose presence could brighten any room with his laughter.

Dennis is preceded in death by his son, Hunter Lee Hopkins; his mother, Cheryl Silvers; his stepmother, Becky Hopkins; and his sister, Patti Hopkins.

He is survived by his son, Matthew Hopkins, and wife Megan; his daughter, Kylynn Hopkins; his granddaughter, MaKenna Hopkins; his father, Bruce Hopkins; his stepfather, Jim Silvers; his stepbrother, Jimmie Silvers; his nieces, Hailey Hopkins, and Angelina Martinez; his nephew, Jose Martinez; as well as many other family members and dear friends.

Friends are cordially invited to visitation with the family on Friday, January 3, 2025, from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at Jeter Memorial Funeral Home, 311 N Friendswood Dr, Friendswood, TX 77546. For more information, please call 281-992-7200.
