January 12, 1925 – July 29, 2022
David Irwin Wallace, Jr., age 97, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 29, 2022. He was born January 12, 1925 to David I. Wallace, Sr. and Gertrude Oberthier Wallace.
David met the love of his life, Betty Jean Knight, in Henderson, TX. in 7th grade. The rest is history, as they spent the rest of their school years as sweethearts. In 1944, while home on leave from the Army, David and Betty were married. They were married for 74 years. David passed away one day before what would have been their 77th Anniversary. What a celebration they must have had!
David was kind, loving and soft spoken; a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. He was a hard worker, retiring from Amoco Pipeline in Fort Worth as head of their right-away division. His favorite pastime activities were bird hunting and fishing.
David was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Knight Wallace, his father, David I. Wallace, Sr., his mother, Gertrude Oberthier Wallace and sister, Margaret Wallace Cox. He is survived by daughters, Beckey Wallace Cline (Richard) and Nanette Wallace Maxey (Eddy): grandchildren, Brent Cline, Kimberlee Cline Henke, Natalie Maxey Hodge, Dustin Maxey and seven great-grandchildren.
Friends are cordially invited to the visitation with the family on Saturday, August 6, 2022 at 10 A.M. with the service to begin at 11 A.M. at the Jeter Memorial Funeral Home, 311 N. Friendswood Dr., Friendswood, TX 77546 (281-977-7200) with Russell McLaughlin officiating. Interment will follow at the South Park Cemetery in Pearland, TX.
