November 8, 1959 – January 10, 2023
On February 8th, 2019, Dan said, “I did the best I knew, and when I knew better, I did better.”
Daniel “Danny” Robert Worthington, was a Godly man with a servants heart. He was born in Honduras on November 8th, 1959, and he met his Lord and Savior on January 10th, 2023.
His parents, Hank and Joanne, were missionaries with the Mission Aviation Fellowship Team. His family continued to be missionaries which ended in Indonesia. He made California his permanent home after his parents decided to leave the mission field. At age nine, the family joined Rose Drive Friends Church and Danny continued to be a member of the congregation for many years to come. Dan’s father made construction his new way of serving, which led to the additions to Rose Drive made by Dan and his family during his High School Years. One of which was the Main Sanctuary, which is still used today.
Danny graduated high school in 1978 and received a full scholarship to play football at Fullerton College. He later transferred to Cal State Long Beach where he graduated in 1982 with a degree in Industrial Arts. It was during this time that he decided to follow in his parents’ footsteps and join the missionary field, which included: Mexico, Guatemala, Rwanda, Mozambique, Nepal, Kenya, Haiti, Ecuador, Madagascar, Uganda, and India.
Dan met Mindy in 5th grade and were good friends until college. It was during college that Danny decided to surprise Mindy with a kiss, which then changed everything. In July of 1981, he married the love of his life, Melinda “Mindy” Kay Minton and together they started a family while living in Yorba Linda, CA. They were blessed with three beautiful children in 1986, 1988, and 1993. They were active members in their church and made their biggest contribution by being leaders in the children’s ministry. They helped bring children to the Lord in many ways, but Kingdom Connection performances were their staple. They were happily married for almost 25 years until God decided to welcome Mindy home in 2010.
In 2014, unaware of God’s plan, Dan made his way to Texas. He trusted Gods provision which led him to a career with Generosity Services with Chad Harris. He utilized this career opportunity to build relationships that led others to the path of Christ. In March of 2015, he met Catherine “Cat” Dominique Spence and were married in November the following year, 2016. Dan and Cat lived a simple yet fulfilling life together. There was never a dull moment, and they truly enjoyed every moment they shared together. Together, Dan and Cat shared 6 children, 8 grandchildren (1 to be), and 3 dogs, who were also their children.
“It’s been another day, so I love you more.” – Matthew 22:37.
Most importantly, Danny was a son, a brother, a father, a pops, and a friend. He was a kind, humble and supportive man, who’s priority was to love God, his family, and friends. He had a patient ear, a generous heart, and a huge laugh that welcomed everyone to him. He was loved by his family who will dearly miss his wisdom, kindness, and undeniable humor.
Dan had the gift of giving. He had unconditional love for his entire family. He spared no cost to bring joy whenever he possibly could. At the end of the day, his mission was to please and he never fell short. He was a good provider no matter the circumstances and we never worried about what tomorrow would bring.
Danny was predeceased by his parents, Hank and Joanne, his wife, Mindy, and his father-in-law, Fream.
He is survived by his wife, Catherine, his children, Whitney and husband Jon, Reid and wife Kristen, and Quincey, along with Trey and wife Tiffani, Candace, and Becca and husband Donny. This includes eight grandchildren, Deacon, Noah, Bryant, Peytan, Jace, Levi, Dakota and Beau. Including brothers David and wife Patti, Dale and wife Holli, and Dean and wife Arlene, along with mother-in-law Christy. As well as many extended family members and close friends.
Friends are cordially invited to the visitation with the family at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, January 16, 2023 at Sagemont Church Chapel, 11300 S. Sam Houston Parkway E. Houston, Texas 77089, followed by the funeral at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Tom Wilson officiating.

This all seems so surreal. We talked most of the month of October before me visiting a couple of times due to work . We met at a steakhouse for the first time in maybe 2 years since him and Cat coming to our house in Ontario . Dan invited me to come to dinner one of the following nights after work . Cat put on a feast ! We ate and talked and I made plans I would bring my wife Kathy with me next trip out . Next trip out, Dan n Cat invited us to stay the night . We had another nice get together and had to leave very early in the morning for work . We said our goodbye before bed . I thanked Dan the next day via text and that we enjoyed the brief stay and Kathy thought Cat was really nice and a good fit for Dan . Having 2 of his kids move to Texas and his grandkids was huge to Dan. Our take was " He was happy , and we were happy for him !" . Dan had hit so many bumps in the road , and he just kept moving forward. I never saw him distraught or feel sorry for himself , he just worked through it . I think it was 3rd grade ( I'm old and can't remember exactly) we met and became friends . I think I was in junior high at Quaker meadow camp Dan helped me to accept Jesus crist into my life . I worked summers with his dad as a means to be able to hang out with my friend . We had a 55 year history together and texted happy birthday, merry Christmas and happy new year almost all the time . So , hearing the news was a huge shock ! " I was just there , he looked good and not sick . How could this be , its not real , I'm dreaming " . Dan was strong mentally and physically, he was a rock ! God used Dan in so many ways , I guess it was time for him to come home . So many of us are lucky to have a friend , father , husband , co worker like Dan . I have memories to last a lifetime, but will miss making more with him . My condolences to all his family , extended family and friends . Until we meet again in heaven Dan , Love David
Danny was a giant of a man who loved Jesus and others as Jesus did. He was a wonderful friend and a great influence upon me and my family. I look forward to seeing him again in heaven and his giant of a hug.
