In Loving Memory

Cody Mitchell Owen

March 3, 1965 – February 10, 2025

Cody Owen, a devoted husband, father, and friend, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 10th, 2025. Born in San Angelo to his loving parents Mary Nell and Clyde, Cody joined his beloved siblings Kevin and Connie. Cody enjoyed growing up in San Angelo playing sports and spending time outdoors hunting and fishing. His love for West Texas led him to Texas Tech University, where he built a foundation for his future, earning a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering. In 2007, he met the love of his life, Megan, and the two married in 2010, creating a beautiful life together.

Cody and Megan cherished their blended family, raising four incredible sons—Canon, Caden, Sam, and Luke. Fatherhood was Cody’s greatest joy; he poured his heart into guiding, supporting, and coaching his boys. His passion for mentorship extended far beyond his family, as he dedicated himself to coaching countless young athletes through the Friendswood Broncos and Friendswood Little League youth sports programs. His impact on the young men he coached was immeasurable, leaving a lasting legacy of competitiveness, leadership, and perseverance. It is safe to say, he gave every umpire and referee a run for their money, which was always exciting for the fans to watch.

A skilled businessman, Cody built his own company, Pinnacle Construction Industries, where he fostered strong relationships for over 26 years in Friendswood and the surrounding communities. He had a great work ethic and was known for his honesty and integrity.

Cody embraced life wholeheartedly, filling every moment with laughter, love, humor, and an unforgettable presence. He had a natural ability to make people laugh, and anyone who met him has a “Cody story” about a time he left them in stitches. His wit, charm, and ability to find joy in every situation made him the kind of person people gravitated toward.

Cody’s dream was to own a ranch with Megan, and in 2021, that dream became a reality with the creation of Big Chief Ranch in Blanco, TX. It became a place of joy where countless memories were made with friends and family that will last a lifetime. This was their happy place, and where they planned to retire one day.

Cody is survived by his loving wife, Megan, and their four boys: Canon and wife Maddie (who are expecting their first child in September), Caden and Hannah, Samuel, and Luke, as well as his loyal dogs, Willie, Waylon and Dolly; his mother, Mary Nell Lane, and her husband Jimmy (JO), his brother, Kevin Owen and his wife Cyndi; his sister Connie Strube and her husband Kenny; his mother-in-law and father-in-law Margie and Michael Leggio; brother-in-law, Mike Leggio and his wife Julie; nephew Matt Owen and wife Jenny; niece Makenzie Catlett and husband Richie; niece Morgan Jones and husband Jacob; niece Lindsey Rea and husband Rowdy; nephew Slayton Strube and wife Brooke; niece Bella Leggio ; niece Alyssa Leggio and fiancé Matthew Cavanaugh; along with 17 great nieces and nephews, and many cousins all of whom Cody truly adored. He is preceded in death by his father, Clyde Owen; maternal grandparents Ralph and Jo “JoJo” Mitchell; and paternal grandparents Arlie and Arlee Owen.

Cody was a man whose kindness, laughter, and unwavering love for his family and friends will be deeply missed. Cody’s deep faith was evident in the way he lived his life every day- with kindness, integrity, and love. Our family is at peace knowing he is with his Lord and Savior.

The family is deeply grateful to the CLS Health and HCA Clear Lake physicians, nurses, technicians, and administration who cared for Cody with professionalism and grace in his final days.

A visitation will be held at Jeter Memorial Funeral Home, 311 N. Friendswood Dr., Friendswood, TX 77546 on Tuesday, February 18th, 2025 from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. and a celebration of Cody’s life will be held on Wednesday, February 19th, 2025 at 1:00 P.M. at Mary Queen Catholic Church, 606 Cedarwood Dr., Friendswood, TX 77546.

  1. I can’t say I knew Cody well, but what I did know, I both admired & respected. Cody and I did business together on several occasions and he always held himself with integrity, honesty, and with a generous nature. I wish I had the time to know more of him.

I pray for peace for his family and offer my deepest condolences from the Farley family.

  2. Cody and I met 20+ years ago when we were coaching our son’s Little League teams at Renwick. We coached together and coached against each other. When we coached against each other, we always shared very colorful comments in between innings!! He coached my son every year he played Broncos football. He was a great Coach, because he truly cared about the kids first.
His obituary accurately captures what a great man he really was. I am speechless at the loss my close friend.
Megan, Canon, Cade, Sam and Luke and all of Cody’s family will be in my thoughts and prayers.
