In Loving Memory

Christopher Wayne Tietz

September 10, 1981 – April 24, 2022

Christopher Wayne “Chris” Tietz, a Christian man, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 24, 2022.

Chris, a beloved and devoted son, brother and uncle is survived by his parents, Robert and Sheila Tietz, a sister, Aimee Armstrong, a brother, Chad Armstrong, nieces, Maddie Armstrong and Makayla “KK” Armstrong, and a nephew, Colby Armstrong.

Chris was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Floyd and Dorothy Dauphin and Harvey Maddox, paternal grandparents, Jesse and Lenora French and Noah Tietz, his uncle, Ronnie Maddox and a cousin, Todd Maddox.

Chris was born on September 10, 1981. He was a lifelong resident of Webster, Texas and the Heritage Park neighborhood. He attended P.H. Greene Elementary School and Webster Intermediate and graduated from Clear Brook High School. He was a proud and loyal Clear Brook Wolverine.

Chris spent the majority of his working career in the construction industry primarily in maintenance, but most notably in painting and sandblasting of which he had a very high aptitude and was very skilled. He worked locally for Turner Industries, but he recently spent time at the Kingsbay Naval Submarine Base in St. Marys, Georgia on a special project for the US Department of Defense. He was a member of the Houston Painter’s Local Union 193. He was a member of the Houston Area Safety Council and the National Council for Construction Education and Research. He was OSHA certified and held an SSPC Blasting certification. He was also a paid fashion model for DXL Men’s Apparel.

Chris was a giant of a man, but always a young boy at heart. He had an infectious smile and a warm and compassionate nature. He was a friend to all and never met a stranger. He was open and honest about who he was but identified most strongly about his Christian faith and was proud to share it. His baptism date, June 17, 2018, was an important date of celebration for him. He was known by a variety of affectionate nicknames among family and friends including “Lil’ Bit”, “Big Country”, “Big Tietz” and “Canary”. He was a great and generous friend to so many. Special lifelong friends include Blake Whitworth, Travis Donaldson and Angel Phillips.

Chris had a wide variety of interests and activities that he enjoyed with family and friends. Perhaps second only to being a Christian, he most identified as an avid, proud, passionate and vocal fan of the Dallas Cowboys. He was an eager and accomplished cook who loved to spend time over the grill. He particularly enjoyed annual trips to the drag races with his dad, Robert, and his brother, Chad. He enjoyed playing, watching and discussing basketball. He was a reader and was a card-carrying member of the Harris County Library. He and his niece, Makayla, were raising their pal, Zeke, a pit bull pup, together. He was a faithful member of several groups including Thursday evenings at Pathway to Peace Recovery Ministries, Saturday mornings with his Band of Brothers bible study and Sunday mornings as an usher at Friendswood Methodist, often as “Usher 1”.

Services are scheduled for Monday, May 2, 2022 at the Friendswood Methodist Church, 110 N. Friendswood Drive, Friendswood, TX 77546. There will be a viewing for family and friends from 1:00PM to 3:00PM followed by the service at 3:00PM. The service will be officiated by Chris’ cousin, Jack Maddox, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Jacksboro, Texas. Rev. Sam McRae of Friendswood Methodist will assist Pastor Maddox. Pallbearers will be Chad Armstrong, Colby Armstrong, Alex Batio, Blake Whitworth, Travis Donaldson and Neill Galbraith. Jeter Funeral Home in Friendswood is conducting funeral arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund for the family has been set up via Go Fund Me at www.gofundme.com/Chris-Tietz-Memorial-Fund. Christopher was one of the first classmates I met at P. H. Greene the first day of Kindergarten. I will never EVER forget his smile, his laugh, his presence when he entered a room… He was a life-long friend and will be greatly missed. He will always be "Big Country" to me. I will forever cherish our friendship and all the memories made from that first day of kindergarten on… Rest easy, Christopher Wayne! You are so loved and will never be forgotten.

Chris was my first boyfriend ever. I lived with him and his family for a while before we got an apt, then later a house. He was the funniest person I've met. The most loyal individual at heart. My 3 year old son called him uncle chrissy. The security he provided just with his presence was enough to make me feel like I was just as untouchable as he was. I have seen Chris and loved him through his ups and downs. Boy oh boy was he one of a kind. I met him when I was 15. Almost 18 years later he was calling my mom every other day to check on her. Spoke with my grandma before she passed away on Easter. Told my son and I that he loved us. He cared about us. He loved us like family. I can't describe the amount of pure shock and sincere pain I felt when I heard of Chris's demise. I grieve him and his friendship. His want to always be around me no matter what. The countless days driving to the beach or to visit my grandma. The trips to the screw shop and then the zoo. The way he would rap and sing and quote movies…. Disney movies for me.. all of the nights we spent watching movies and laughing. He was truly my best friend. I miss him so much already. I can't get over the fact that I won't see him again. He was the only person who never turned his back on me. Who always thought highly of me. Who gave me the most compliments and made me laugh more than anyone I've met. Be at peace Chris. Say hi to my sister for me… I will see you again. In a perfect world. With new beginnings and no pain. I love you and your family so much.. thank you for being such a big part of my life. I will keep you in my heart and my thoughts. I can't believe you are really gone. Peace be with you. I love you. – Lindsay Nicole
