In Loving Memory

Charles Bennie Love

July 12, 1943 – September 18, 2022

Charles Bennie Love, 79, of Friendswood, our beloved Dad, husband, grandpa, great grandpa, brother, uncle and friend passed away Sunday September 18, 2022 at 6:25 am in Webster, Texas.

Charles was born on July 12, 1943 in Huntsville, Texas and he was raised in Richards, Texas.

He was raised in the country and had to do chores in the morning before heading to school. He played baseball and basketball during his school years.  He was a hardworking man who started at a very young age.  He worked at various plants as a carpenter to provide for his loving family.  Charles proudly served in the United States Air Force Reserve for 22 years and was a Master Sergeant for 12 yrs.  He was a member of the Carpenters Union.

One of his all-time favorite hobbies included fishing, hunting and camping.  He was a great fisherman, and he would go fishing with Mary Lou, Carol, Ron, his grandkids, brothers, sisters, friends and just about anyone that wanted to go fishing.

Mary Lou was the love of his life for 52 years.  They would do everything together. They are now together again forever.

Charles loved his grandkids Rikk and Lauren.  He was always supporting and cheering them on at all their games he could attend.  Whether it was a baseball, basketball, cheer or soccer games, he was there. Hot, cold, rainy or windy days you could count on Grandpa to be in the stands.

He became a great grandpa in July 2022 to Zakk Cooper but unfortunately was getting sick and couldn't travel.  He loved baby Zakk.

Dad loved his lottery scratch off tickets and was pretty good with his luck. He would always say "Just one more stop" and most of the time it turned out to be a lucky stop.  He had some dry days, Carol and Ron would always tell him it's all about luck Dad.  We didn't mind him playing lotto, as it was so much better than his dipping for so many years.

He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Lou, parents, Georgia Mae Shipp Love and Alfred Dewy Love, brothers, George Love, Weldon Love, Lannie Love and Jim Love, sisters, Dorothy Love and Ruby Love.

Charles is survived by his daughter Carol Love, son Ron Love, grandchildren, Rikk Love-Flores, Lauren Love, great grandson Zakk Cooper, brothers, Alton Love, Lloyd Love, Wayne Love, sisters, Molly Sylvester and Audrey Mayfield and many other relatives and cherished friends.

Dad was a very special man, loving, kind, thoughtful, sweet, caring to all that knew him.  Charles was loved by all and will be missed dearly by everyone.  So many stories and memories were shared and will forever be in our hearts.

Friends are cordially invited to the visitation with the family on Friday, September 30, 2022 at 1:00 P.M. followed by the funeral service at 2:00 P.M. at Jeter Memorial Funeral Home, 311 N. Friendswood Dr., Friendswood, Texas 77546 (281) 992-7200.

Until we meet again.  We love you, Carol, Ron, Rikk, Lauren and Baby Zakk.

Condolences may be sent to the Love family in care of Jeter Memorial Funeral Home at www.jeterfuneralhome.com.

  1. Love family,

I'm so very sorry for your great loss. I knew Mr Love when I was a pre-teen in Alvin during the 70's. I remember him as a very friendly and respectable man. Even as a kid I remember having the sense that he was a family person, a hard worker, and a man that everyone liked. My thoughts are with you. I have no doubt that our creator will ensure that you'll be together with him again in eternity.

    My sincere condolences,
    Ken McDermed and family
