Betty Lorraine Nyhus Mulder, 99, of Friendswood, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, August 9, 2023.  Betty was born on July 20, 1924, in Sioux City, Iowa, to parents Hans Nyhus and Marvel Atwood Nyhus.  She was preceded in death by both parents; siblings, Vivian Nyhus and Gene Nyhus; husband, Elmer Mulder; and grandson, Jacob Mulder. 

Betty was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, and is survived by her children, Vicki Junck, Michael Mulder and wife Susan, Tom Mulder and wife Ann; grandchildren, Jennifer Reicks and husband Jason, Kara Junck, Lindsey Mulder, and Stephen Mulder; and great-grandchildren, Haven and Nella Reicks.  She was married to Elmer from 1949 until his death in 2018.

Betty lived in Sioux City, Iowa, for 28 years; Fort Dodge, Iowa, for 39 years; and Friendswood, Texas, for 32 years.  She was an active member at the Sioux City First Presbyterian Church, Fort Dodge First Presbyterian Church, and Friendswood United Methodist Church.  She worked as a supervisor at the Northwestern Bell Telephone Company in both Sioux City and Fort Dodge, was employed by the Fort Dodge School District, and supported her husband’s office equipment business for many years.

Friends are cordially invited to attend a visitation with the family from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Monday, August 21, 2023, at Jeter Memorial Funeral Home, 311 N. Friendswood Dr., Friendswood, TX 77546.  The funeral service will be held immediately following at 11:00 am, also at Jeter Memorial Funeral Home.  Rev. Jim Bass of the Friendswood United Methodist Church will be officiating.  Interment will be at Forest Park East Cemetery in Webster, Texas.
