Betty Jean (Swain) Talbert, 90, of Alvin, Texas passed away on Monday, April 11, 2022. She was born December 1, 1931, in Huron, South Dakota, to Fred and Johanna (Keizer) Swain. After graduating from Presentation School of Nursing in Aberdeen, South Dakota in 1952, she decided to work her way around the world. Her first stop was Honolulu, Hawaii, where she met a handsome submarine sailor named Jerry Talbert and changed her plans. Betty enjoyed her career as a Registered Nurse, eventually becoming the school nurse at Alvin Junior High School and Harby Junior High School for many years. After retiring she enjoyed volunteering at church, traveling with Jerry in their travel trailer, painting, playing bunko and mahjong with friends, and of course spending time with her grandchildren.

Betty is survived by her devoted husband Jerry Talbert of Alvin, children Cindy (Clay) Jones of Friendswood, Jay (Jennifer) Talbert of League City, Lori (Joe) Perjak of Westminster, Colorado, and Susie (Mark) Robson of New Braunfels; brother Don (Lois) Swain of Brentford, South Dakota, sister June Wood of Lytton Springs, Texas, grandchildren Alex (Kristen) Jones, Andy (Stephanie) Jones, Jessica Jones, Janna Talbert, Jared Talbert, Jonathan Talbert, 6 great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Robert Swain and his wife Lelia, and brother-in-law Art Wood.

Friends are invited to the visitation with the family on Friday, April 15, 2022 at 1:00pm at First Methodist Alvin, 611 W. South St., Alvin, Texas 77511. A memorial service will begin at 2:00pm, followed by a graveside service at Confederate Cemetery in Alvin.
