In Loving Memory

Bennie Rodriguez Garcia

October 21, 1955 – August 1, 2021

Bennie Rodriguez Garcia, age 65, died peacefully on August 1, 2021 surrounded by his family at St. Joseph's Hospital in Houston, TX after nearly a month-long battle with COVID-19. He was the eldest of his 5 siblings born to Rebecca and Bennie Garcia in Galveston, TX.

Bennie, also known as Ben, or Uncle Bennie, was loved by so many.  He was always there to lend a helping hand or a listening ear.  He helped us celebrate the good times and often served as our fearless orator during the hard times.  He gained a great deal of friends over the years through his 40 years of work on projects with Zachary Group, as well as during his 30+ years of membership to Texas Campgrounds Club of Galveston.

He was preceded in death by his father and namesake Bennie Garcia, from whom he inherited his can-do DIY spirit.

Bennie is survived by his mother Rebecca Garcia, his daughters Michelle Garcia, Sarah Garcia, and Ashlee Collins, her husband Todd and his grandchildren Jacoby, Tyson, Evynn, and Lucy; sister Sylvia Saenz, husband Rudy; brother Randy Garcia, wife Debra; sister Becky Guzman, husband Joe; brother Oscar Garcia; brother Michael Garcia, wife Bridgett; and many other relatives and beloved friends.

Friends are cordially invited to attend a visitation with the family on Wednesday, August 11, 2021 at 9:00 A.M., with the funeral service to follow at 10:00 A.M., at Jeter Memorial Funeral Home, 311 N. Friendswood Dr., Friendswood, TX 77546, (281) 992-7200, with Rev. Jerry Stark officiating.  The burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery, 8706 Almeda Genoa Rd., Houston, TX 77075.

Condolences may be sent to the Garcia family in care of Jeter Memorial Funeral Home at www.jeterfuneralhome.com.

  8. I will miss our family gatherings with you. A void will be in our hearts. It's hard to believe you are gone. I think of things, we as a family will do in the future and include you in those plans, then reality hits that you will not be there. I love you brother and I know we will get together again when we all meet up in heaven.

    Love your sister,
    Becky

Michelle, Sarah & Ashlee, You girls each are a beautiful reflection of your fathers love, may each of you hold on to his love in your heart and may this bring you much comfort in the days and months to come.

Uncle Bennie, May you rest in paradise and shine your love upon your family through the sunshine and send butterflies as a reminder to those you love.

  13. Ben,
You are an amazing friend. You were there for me through my darkest times. Shoulder to cry on and do whatever you can to support me with resources and knowledge to help me cope with my divorce. I will never forget you for being there for me during this time. And also all the light and fluffy times before and after that. I so wish we could catch up over lunch again. The news of you passing really broke my heart and sudden realization of the opportunity to do so again being gone. You will be missed so much.

    Love,
    Nita
