In Loving Memory

Ann Hamilton Wood

April 8, 1933 – March 26, 2024

Ann Hamilton Wood passed away at the age of 90 on March 26, 2024 in Friendswood, Texas. Ann was born to parents Sie and Dolly Hamilton in Teaberry, Kentucky in 1933. She grew up in a large loving family with twelve siblings, eventually settling in Rising Sun, Maryland. She married Loren Wood in 1953 and followed him across the country as they grew their own family. First, Joan was born in Maryland, then Alice in Florida and finally the twins Carol and Scott in California.

Ann and family moved to Friendswood in 1967 where she and her husband became very involved in the community. A longtime member of the Friendswood Friends Church, Ann was known for her generous spirit, kindness, and her compassion, always eager to help others in need. She gave her time to many faith-based activities, serving with Loren in their church, community prayer breakfast, the Gideons, and countless others. She loved gardening and walks, and after learning to swim later in life enjoyed teaching water aerobics.

Her kindness and love was cherished by her grandchildren Sarah with great-grandson Henry, Michelle with great-grandson Tucker, Katie, Melanie, Jenna and Jonathan.

The funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 4, 2024 at 10:30 A.M. at Friendswood Friends Church, 502 S. Friendswood Dr., Friendswood, Texas 77546 with Rev. Bobby Kirkpatrick officiating.  A private burial will be held at Friendswood Friends Cemetery.

The family would like to give a special thank you to her amazing caregivers at Serenity Gardens in Friendswood that supported her over the past several years. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests considering a donation in Ann Wood’s name to Alzheimer's Association (https://www.alz.org) or a charity of your choice.

  1. Mrs. Wood was a lovely lady and I’m certain she is at peace now with her Lord and Saviour. Condolences to the family now, and in the days to come.

  2. Carol, I'm so sorry to hear about your mom's passing. She was a beautiful lady who loved her family.
I have great memories of her and I doing the Bible studies together. She was my co-coordinator. She is now up
there with your dad praising the joys of the Lord.

  3. A lovely lady who I am grateful to have known. I remember the first time we met, Michelle & Callie were tiny little girls, the night before Kindergarten started. As Peterson was the name just above Rose, we knew they would be near each other & become fast friends. I remember how sweet & gentle Ann was with Michelle that evening. She was so kind & encouraging to our little girls. Rest in peace and thank you for loving our girls so well!

  4. Nanny was so energetic, kind and kept up with us little girls. I remember her cooking liver and onions on the stove – I had never seen such a thing! She put up with so many shenanigans from us over the years. Spin the bottle at a backyard party (she was NOT happy about that).. . May she rest peacefully she her earthly family find comfort in memories of her.

  5. Dear family; I am sorry to hear of the loss of your mother. She was so gracious to me in my time at friendswood friends. Many a meal with your treat family remains in my memory! Blessings to all.
