January 13, 1996 – November 22, 2022
Andrew Kyle Almaguer passed away on Tuesday, November 22, 2022 in Pearland, Texas, at the age of 26. Born on January 13, 1996 in Houston, Texas, to Americo and Lillie C. Almaguer. Kyle was born with Jeune’s Syndrome, a rare genetic disorder that at the time, those affected were given a life expectancy of less than two years. But Kyle was a fighter who endured countless medical procedures, including some that were innovative and ground-breaking. He had an extra ordinarily strong will to live that was an inspiration to all who knew him. Kyle never complained about his condition and chose to live life every day to the fullest.
Kyle graduated from Friendswood High School in June of 2017. There, he touched the lives of so many teachers and students, particularly the Friendswood High School Quest Department and the Friendswood Independent School District transition center. Kyle was an ambassador for the Texas Oilman’s Bass Invitational, a junior firefighter for the Friendswood Fire Department, involved in the PALS program and lettered and won a gold medal in Bowling for Special Olympics.
Kyle’s joyful spirit was contagious, and his love of life spread to all he encountered. He made the most of every day, whether it was a scheduled ambulance ride to dialysis, waiting at the bus barn and counting school buses as they pulled out, going for a drive, or watching for the recycle and mail trucks to come by and get a wave or a honk. Kyle’s sweet smile would light up any room instantly. He had a way of never meeting a stranger and he changed hearts with his love for life. Kyle’s spirit lives on through the many people he touched every day of his miracle life.
Kyle was blessed to be cared for by his many loving nurses and had a special affection for his long-time care givers Paula Dunn (22 years), Anna Marie Bracking (17 years) and Mia Thomas (13 years). These nurses became a special part of his family.
He also loved the ambulance crew from Pediatric Transport and the doctors and nurses of the Texas Children’s Hospital Dialysis unit where Kyle was a patient for 26 years.
Kyle’s parents would like to thank all his many doctors, nurses, caregivers, the Dialysis Unit at Texas Children’s Hospital, the TOBI Organization and the faithful visitor team from Mary Queen Catholic Church for their great care and support given to Kyle over the years.
Kyle’s parents, Americo and Lillie cannot adequately convey the debt of gratitude they feel for all the love and support given to him by so many people.
Preceded in death by his Grandparents Guadalupe & Maria Minerva Almaguer and Max Reid Collins. Kyle is survived by his parents Americo and Lillie C. Almaguer, his Grandmother Betty Matte Collins, his aunts, uncles and many cousins.
A visitation is scheduled at Mary Queen Catholic Church 606 Cedarwood Drive, Friendswood, Texas 77546 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, December 1, 2022, followed by a Rosary from 12:30 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. and a Mass that will begin at 1:00 p.m. with Fr. Trey Crespo, celebrant. Burial will follow immediately after the service. The graveside service will be held at Forest Park Lawndale, 6900 Lawndale Street, Houston, TX 77023.

To all of Kyle's family-
Kyle was an inspiration. We shared hand painting and paper collection, singing country songs and playing with pagers, fishing and riding in the front seat of ambulances. I will always remember doing a Quality of Life survey with him. When asked 'During the past 4 weeks, have you had only of the following problems with your work or other regular daily activities as a result of your physical health? or 'have you accomplished less than you would have liked? or were limited in the kind of work of other activities?" Kyle gave a quick and confident 'No'. You as family loved him so much that he never knew dialysis as an inconvenience or concern. He loved ALL his life and that was such a blessing for me to see and be a small part of. May memories comfort you. Love and thanks, Carol Marshall
Kyle, the Easter Bunny and Santa Claus are going to miss having conversations with you. Rest in peace. The Easter Bunny and Santa Claus will never forget you and that “Almaguer” smile. Your Uncle Adrian
I was part of the Mary Queen Visitation Team in 2015 that visited Kyle until osteo arthritis no longer made it possible for me to continue. He was a wonderful young man, always kind and determined in spite of his challenges. I always felt God's presence when I visited Kyle- I am sure he is with the Creator now. He was a credit to his God. Kyle loved NASCAR and racing, and he had truly wonderful parents. I always could see where his goodness and kindness came from. The Book of Revelation gives us hope in this moment: "And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the old things have passed away." (Revelation 21: 4). Because of the Resurrection, we shall see our friend, Kyle, again. May Christ welcome him into the Kingdom of heaven, and bless his family & all who love him. We will say the Rosary for all of you. All our love and prayers, Steve and MarySandra Foster, Friendswood
We always admire Kyle for being such a smart young man and for being a fighter his entire life. May he rest in pease.
Love,

I am so sorry for your loss. Andrew sounds like a very special gift from God. Know that he and your family are in my prayers.
Some people live to be 100 years old and others much much less. But what matters is to make the most of each day God gives us and Kyle did just that. His unwavering spirit, his joyful interest in even the most mundane task, and his love for all he came into contact with made him a very special human being. Kyle, you are perfect now- no more pain, no more physical limitaions. You can do anything your heart desires in heaven.
You made the world better while you were here and we love you for it. Love you always, your Uncle Armando
Kyle was such an independent person…he wanted to do everything for himself…I loved seeing and hearing him express his feelings and thoughts!
Lillie and Americo, you were his champions…you provided him with a most loving and caring home life to ensure that he felt secure and protected. He is one of the children that I will always hold close to my heart because he "lived out loud"…never afraid to express himself and so darn cute when he was doing it.
May perpetual light shine on him…rest well Kyle.

Lillie and America – God knew what he was doing when he placed Kyle in your care. You both provided so much love and offered him an opportunity to live his life to the fullest. He was loved by many and made such an impact on others. You are in our thoughts and deepest prayers.
There is a poem titled “The Dash”. It is about your life from the time you are born to the end of your life. God gives us all gifts to use in our lives. When we stand before God he will ask us how we used the gifts that he blessed us with. Was it used for selfish gain or genuine love as in The Golden Rule. Kyle lived the Golden Rule through adversity with a big smile. He didn’t know it, but he was a teacher. He fought the good fight and now it is time for him to rest in the arms of our Lord Jesus Christ. Until we meet again. We love you Kyle. Adam and Sherrie
Kyle was one of my favorite students! He was in my 5th grade social studies class. During our unit on the American Revolution he donned a costume, (Paul Revere) and rode through the halls on his great steed warning all that the British were coming. That smile… the smile on that boys face is something I will never forget. He will be smiling down on all of us. Rest in peace Kyle.
Some of my former colleagues and I were certainly blessed to have had the opportunity for Kyle to touch our lives while he attended Friendswood High School. Even in recent conversations, we share our times spent with him. One of our faves is how Kyle would ask our phones to, “Play Darius Rucker, Wagon Wheel.” I am certain that I can speak for all of them, too, when I say that every time we hear that song, we’ll think of him and sing along, as we share stories of your most precious son. May peace be with you.

Kyle,
You are such a beautiful soul! You touched every one that knew you in a special way! Your fight to live each day is unbelievably inspirational.
May God Bless you and wrap you in his arms.
Go catch some rainbows and run around pain free!
You will be missed so much!
Keep smiling!

Kyle will always hold a special place in my heart! Even with his physical challenges he possessed so much independence and strength. Not only was he smart but he was kind too. During his time on peritoneal dialysis I enjoyed and looked forward to the home visits and accompanying him on the TOBI fishing trips along with TCH Renal patients. I will forever remember his smiling face and his inquisitiveness. Americo and Lillie, you guys did a wonderful job raising and promoting Kyle to live his best life on this earth. I continuously pray that God give you Peace and Strength during this time! Love and Hugs always, Deborah 💕🙏🏽💕
Americo,
I don’t know if you remember me but I'm Lesley Diller’s son Heath. I am so sorry for you loss but please know that God blessed you with 26 years with your Kyle. I know the pain you are going through, although ours was for our 6 day old baby girl Madison. I pray that you have comfort in knowing that Kyle fought and overcame many obstacles, while being a bright beacon throughout his journey on earth. Although I did not know him personally, from reading the memorials, I can see that he was lived and made an impact on so many. May God bless Kyle o his journey to Heaven and you and Lillie during this time.
Remembering Kyle fondly and thinking of Americo and Lillie at this sorrowful time. We always enjoyed Kyle’s visits as he arrived on his battery powered vehicle. He was one of the nicest people on Royal Court; always very positive and cheery—Kyle will always hold a special place in our hearts. Love, Cookie and Bill Langdoc
I guess it was around 1998 or 1999, I was a paramedic with an ambulance service and I remember taking Kyle & Lillie to the hospital on numerous occasions when he was just a little guy. I remember every time we brought them home he would raise his arms and clap his hands to tell us to turn on the lights of the ambulance as we left. Kyle and the love the family shared made such a tremendously profound impression that I remember it like it was yesterday. My deepest sympathy.
