In Loving Memory

Alicia Marie Gressett

November 22, 1975 – March 28, 2023

Alicia Marie Gressett, 47, passed away on March 28, 2023, in Houston, Texas.  She was born on November 22, 1975, to Johnny and Carolyn Williams in Pasadena, Texas.  Alicia loved to write poetry and was proud that one of her poems was published.  She received an associate degree in business from Ashford University in Chandler, AZ.  Alicia’s hobbies included cross stitching and her fur babies.  She recently developed a love of kickboxing.  Alicia would never miss her morning coffee which was “for the safety of others” and everyone thanked her for that.  She had a deep love for the color purple, hummingbirds, and butterflies which was reflected in her home.  One can’t help but think of Alicia when seeing anything with butterflies.

In August of 2022 Alicia become “Lovie” to Amelia LaNae Armstrong. Her “Milly girl” was the light of her life.   Words cannot express the immense love and devotion she felt for her Milly.  Alicia was fiercely devoted to her children Meghan and Morgan and was a true Mama Bear.  No one could ever doubt her love and devotion to her people.  When Alicia loved you, you knew it.  She gave the biggest, strongest hugs that let you know you were loved to her core.

Alicia was delighted when Shain Armstrong came into Meghan’s life, and she embraced him as her own.  She and Shain shared a special bond and she was so proud of the life that he and Meghan were creating.  She was very close to her “Mo” and extremely proud of the man that he is becoming.  Their bond was strong and went beyond mom and son, they were friends.  Alicia was her best when she was loving on her kids and would move heaven and earth for them and their happiness.

Although Alicia’s death has brought much grief to her family and friends, we take comfort in her love and memories that will forever be a part of our lives.  To know Alicia was to love her and in return be loved by her.  We were all privileged and blessed to have her in our lives and to have been touched by her love, generosity, faith, and devotion.  When you see a butterfly think of Alicia and whisper a prayer of thankfulness for her life and the loving impact she had on yours.

Alicia is survived by her family Meghan, Shain, Amelia “Milly”, Morgan, and Trae.  She is also survived by her parents, Johnny and Carolyn Williams; sisters, Kimberly (Kelly) Mays, Stephanie (Johnny) Rutledge; brother Johnny (April) Williams. She is also survived by her nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and a host of friends.

A memorial service will be held in honor of Alicia’s life on Friday, April 7, 2023 at 2:00 P.M. at Greater Life Church, 1655 FM 528 Rd., Webster, Texas  77598, (281) 316-6939.

  4. I’m heartbroken over the loss of our Alicia. Known her for many years and have many memories of great times together. Gone but never forgotten. I will forever carry her in my heart. I love you Alicia Marie!

  5. I would be hard put to express the virtues of this dear young woman! I knew her briefly but clearly recognized the absolute reality of her sweet spirit and the determination I “ knew” she had! Her smile was true and I didn’t have to guess her willingness or ability to meet a challenge. I knew her as responsible, kind-hearted, determined. I always knew she would smile, or in some cases, give a look. I knew inherently, that she would be a good friend and not a fly-by-night person.
Alicia, I’m regretful I didn’t get to know you more or be a better friend. There is absolutely no one else that can come along to be you, but you.
We can’t hope for you to suddenly be where you’ve always been. You are truly missed and we are very sad. You meant a lot to us and we want you to know that! You may not have realized just how much you meant to all of us. I pray you know now! Thank you for being a good friend, and for your beautiful smiles. You were very smart and always loved your family. You loved to laugh and hug! Those butterflies have got nothing on you!!!! We thank God that He made you and allowed you to brighten our lives. Rest in peace, sweet lady! I love you!!! Sharron McKelvey.

    1. Sure miss you sister. I love all of our memories and talks, and I surely wish I could hug you some more….
You always told the best bedtime stories when we shared a room, and you would often let me borrow your ankle socks just so I could tight roll my jeans properly.
I miss that twinke in your eye. When Avy finally learns to ride a bike, without training wheels – I will make sure that she knows that Aunt 'Lisha is the one who taught me to ride down Dorwayne St., clear past the boundaries mom had set up.
"Yes, we have a phone but you can't use it!"
      "I wouullldnnnn't" …. those crack me up all the time. 🙂 🙂
I am bawling as I type this and I miss you. I will forever think of your raised eyebrow which meant "back off", and that gleam of mischievousness all the while you were aggravating me when we were little.
Remember the story that you made up when we were little, "I just called to say……. I….. love….. you…???" What a fantastic memory and the BEST storyteller.
He heard every prayer and He felt every tear that you cried, and He hears and feels mine – even now. Love you SO MUCH!!
      – Your little brother

I feel so blessed go have been a part of your transformation. I remember the day you walked into our kickbox studio. You did not come to participate, rather to observe and take it all in. You were convinced you could not do it. I will be forever grateful that allowed me to show you how strong you really were. You will always be a part
Of the 9Round family. Thank you for loving us and letting us love you. Finish strong fighter!! Warmly, Tamra and the family.

I am very sorry for the loss of beautiful Alicia. My Grandmother Nettie Allums lived next door to her and her family and we all went to church together at Christian Tabernacle years ago. Love, Belinda Waldrip Campbell (Sister Thelma Waldrip's daughter)

My beautiful mom, If I could just have a few more minutes with you, I would remind you just how loved you are. You are the strongest person I know & my very best friend. I’m so thankful for the relationship we had & I will cherish all of our memories. You always made a way for me to have everything I wanted & more, even when you didn’t have it. I hope that I can be as great of a mother to Milly as you were to me. I will miss you forever. I love you bushes, loads & floats mama.
