Albert Lawrence "Larry" Dietrich, Jr., 72, passed away on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, at 4:42 AM, due to a heart attack, with his family by his side. He was born on March 13, 1952 in Port Hueneme, California. Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Al and Doris Dietrich, and his eldest son, Tommy Dietrich.
He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Karen; his daughter Shawni Turner and her husband Micah; his son Joshua Dietrich and his wife Brook; his son Adam Dietrich and his wife Kristie; his son Jerry Leach and his wife Amy; and his son Christian Tucker and his fiancé Inah. Larry was a proud grandfather to Kristee Valdez, Robert Dunn, Ashli Gray and her husband Hunter, Madison Batten, Hailey Dietrich, Ava Leach, Kayli Batten, Dylan Leach, Justin Dietrich, Wyatt Dietrich, Bryce Dietrich, and Addyson Dietrich. He was also a great-grandfather to Olivia, Mason, and Asher Gray.
He is also survived by his brothers, Robert Dietrich and his wife Judy, Danny Dietrich and his wife Cindy, Michael Dietrich and his wife Dee, and Ron Kieth and his wife Mickey, as well as his close friend and honorary brother, Ron Kinney; His aunt Carroll Maples as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Larry resided in Alvin, Texas, for 68 years and was a member of South Park Baptist Church for ~60 years. He spent many years as a respected member of the community and was a Master Mason at Alvin Masonic Lodge #762 for 45 years.
Before his career at Monsanto/Solutia Chemical, Larry was the manager of Wickes Lumber Company in Hammond, Louisiana. He then worked as a chemical process operator at Monsanto/Solutia Chemical from September 25, 1980, until his retirement on September 25, 2005. During his career, he served as both an Alvin EMT from 1987 to 1989 and a plant EMT/Paramedic, as well as unit fire captain of the Cyanide unit for 25 years. After retiring, Larry established a successful tractor and mowing business of 20 years in Alvin and surrounding areas, later expanding to include residential landscaping and city contracts with Manvel, Alvin, and Liverpool. He was voted best lawn care company in Alvin in 2023.
The family extends their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to all of Larry's valued customers throughout the years. His contributions to his community and the lives of those around him will be fondly remembered.
A heartfelt celebration of life will take place at South Park Baptist Church, located at 1718 S Johnson Street, Alvin, TX, on Saturday, August 17th, at 10 A.M. The service will be led by Pastor Howard Daniel and Pastor Chad Bertrand, who will guide us in honoring and remembering a cherished life.
