Christina Wallace Whisenant, 60, was known to family and friends as Christy. Born in Pasadena, Texas, her parents, Donald and Bonduell Hutson, joked that she was the first native born Texan my parents met when they moved to Texas for her father to start working with NASA. They moved to Dickinson a couple months later, where Christy grew up with her older siblings Mark and Debra and her younger sister Renee.
When Christy was 14, she had the opportunity to travel with a special Girl Scout troop to visit 6 countries in Europe. She was able to use the German she learned in high school on her trip. She received numerous honors and awards in high school and attended her first year of college at Stephen F. Austin University.
Her two boys were her pride and joy: Don, born in 1986 and Chris, born in 1987. Christy “adopted” many other kids and family along the way, sharing all her love, wisdom, and humor. She thoroughly enjoyed her hobbies, growing plants, helping and teaching others about plants, acting as the unofficial “Plant Doctor,” and especially bringing family and friends together for any and all occasions including stuffing day.
Christy married Bobby, the love of her life, in 2012. Their “meet-cute” was at Lowe’s. They joined the Chocolate Bayou Cowboy Church in Alvin, TX a year later. Based on her different art projects, the pastor asked her to create a mural at the church. She and a friend designed it and painted it.
Even through the ups and downs, their love story was beautiful. One of the biggest challenges was Hurricane Harvey in 2017, bringing over 4 ft of water into the house! Christy understood how precious time and family are, so she decided to coordinate a Hutson family reunion in November 2018. We reconnected with our great Aunt Dorothy and our cousins. And because Christy never missed the opportunity to recognize a birthday – in 2022, while Aunt Dorothy lived with Christy, she organized a big ole big Texas themed 92nd birthday party for her.
Christy passed away the afternoon of September 17, 2026. Her life and memories will continue to be cherished by the love of her life, Bobby Whisenant of Dickinson, TX; her loving sisters, the “Seestah Facies,” Debra Robertson – married to Mack of Longview, TX, and Renee Eklund – married to Christopher of League City, TX; her son Christopher Wallace – married to Sadie of Dickinson, TX; her loving nieces and nephew – Cierra, Elissa, Gene, Sabrina, and Megan; plus her loving great-nieces and nephews – Journey, Israel, Moriah, Charisma, and Gabriel.
She was preceded in death by her parents Donald and Bonduell Hutson, her son Donald James Wallace, and her brother Mark Hutson.
Friends and family are cordially invited to the Funeral Services on Saturday, September 26, 2026, with Visitation from 1:00-2:00 PM and the Service beginning at 2:00PM at Jeter Memorial Funeral Home, 311 N. Friendswood Dr. Friendswood, TX 77546.
