Laura Frances (Lewis) Vail

Laura Frances (Lewis) Vail

November 15, 1939-August 19, 2026

Laura Vail, 86, passed away peacefully on August 19, 2026. Born on November 15, 1939, in Marshallberg, North Carolina, Laura lived a life centered on family, resilience, and strong relationships with those she cared about most.

Laura was preceded in death by her parents Vernon Lewis and Louise Piner, husband, Ron Vail, and her grandson, Raytheon Williams (Kathy).

She is survived by her son, Terry Vail and his wife, Melanie Williams-Vail; her daughter, Kathy Vail and her husband, Steve McKethan; her brother, David Lewis; and her sister, Susan Cuthrell.

She also leaves behind two grandsons, Tripp Vail and his wife, Lesli, and Cameron Williams and his wife, Kenzie. Laura was proud of her growing family and is survived by her great-grandchildren: Adriana, Skylar, and Eli Vail, children of Tripp and Lesli, and Carter Williams, son of Cameron and Kenzie.

Laura will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She valued family above all else and enjoyed spending time with the people she loved. Her quiet strength, practical nature, and steady presence will be missed by those who knew her.

Her family is grateful for the many years and memories they shared with her and takes comfort in knowing that her legacy lives on through the generations that follow her.

A celebration of her and Ron’s life will be announced by the family later.

  1. Terry and Kathy, so sorry for your loss. I know how much you are missing Laura. May time heal the feelings of sadness and loss. I will keep you and your families in my thoughts.

  2. Forever in my heart and will miss you. My Notre Dame partner we both loved to watch them, Biloxi vacations were so much fun and our Irish coffee were our favorite. Will think of you often and all the good times Laura,
