Naomi Eulavee Taylor Bookout, 79, of Friendswood, Texas , passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family in September 2026, following a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease and complications from a stroke.
Naomi was born in Pueblo, Colorado, in November 1946 to Herbert Franklin and Eulavee Cload Cummings Taylor. She grew up in Clifton, Montrose, and Denver, Colorado, and graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School in Denver in 1964.
Naomi accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior at the age of eight during a revival at Clifton Christian Church. While attending Montrose Christian Church under the ministry of Lloyd McMillan, she felt called to full-time Christian service. In 1964, she enrolled at Ozark Bible College, now Ozark Christian College, where she earned a Bachelor of Christian Education in 1968. Naomi was Co-Valedictorian of her graduating class and held the highest GPA in the history of the college up to that time.
In August 1967, Naomi married Carl Bookout. Together, they shared a life devoted to their family and to Christian ministry. Throughout their marriage, Naomi and Carl served together at Phillipsburg Christian Church in Phillipsburg, Missouri; University Christian Church in Riverside, California; Palmdale Christian Church in Palmdale, California; Rupert Christian Church in Rupert, Idaho; and Bay Area Christian Church in Webster, Texas.
Naomi was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert Franklin and Eulavee Cload Cummings Taylor; her brother, Herbert Franklin Taylor; and her sister-in-law, Jackie Taylor.
She is survived by her son, Chris D. Bookout and wife, Tina; her daughter, Heather Nichole Bookout and husband, Brent; four grandchildren, Ashley Nichole Hunter, Leah Christine Bookout, Dylan Robert Bookout, and Victoria Elisabeth Shrum and husband, Cory; three great-grandchildren, Nico Robert Burton Gosnell, Arthur Taylor Cole Gosnell, and Delilah Rae Shrum; as well as numerous other relatives and friends who will cherish her memory.
Naomi will be remembered for her unwavering faith in Jesus Christ, her dedication to Christian service, and her deep love for her family. Her life of faith and service leaves a lasting legacy in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
The service will be held at Jeter Memorial Funeral Home, 311 N Friendswood Dr. Friendswood, TX 77546 on Saturday, September 12, 2026,
