Douglas L. Shinpaugh, lovingly known as Doug, passed away on July 6, 2026, at the age of 63 in Pearland, Texas.
Doug was born on August 25, 1962, to Carl and Gratie Shinpaugh in Wichita, Kansas. He lived with his family in several states growing up and graduated from El Dorado High School. He then moved to Texas where he worked as the warehouse supervisor for his family’s appliance store. Throughout his life, Doug embraced new adventures, living in South Carolina, Florida, and Louisiana with the love of his life, Rene Roberts, before returning home to Texas in 2022. He was currently employed for The Christy Buck Team. Doug had a passion for all sports but especially loved rooting for his favorite teams, the Dallas Cowboys and the Houston Astros. He was also a master of all the bar games: darts, Golden Tee and shuffleboard.
Doug was preceded in death by his beloved longtime girlfriend and soulmate, Rene Roberts, and his faithful black Labrador, Max, who was truly his best friend. They are all reunited in heaven.
He is survived by his parents, Carl and Gratie Shinpaugh; his brother, Jeff Shinpaugh and his wife, Bigi; his sister, Melissa Alegria and her husband, Richard; his nieces, Carlee Beltran and her husband, Thomas, Claire Lacy, Chloe Lacy, and Erika Shinpaugh; his nephew, Jackson Shinpaugh; and his cherished great-nieces, Hazel and Gracie Beltran, along with many extended family members. Doug also had a special place in his heart for his dear friend Sandra and loved his countless friends.
Doug will be remembered for his kind heart, gentle spirit, and unwavering willingness to help anyone in need. He never had an unkind word to say about anyone and treated everyone he met with compassion, respect, and generosity. His quiet strength, warm smile, and selfless nature left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
Though our hearts are broken by his passing, we find comfort in the countless memories he gave us and the love he shared so freely. Doug’s legacy of kindness will continue to live on in the lives he touched. He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.

I have wonderful memories of Doug in our youth. He had a kind heart, great smile and would do anything for someone in need. It saddens me that he is gone but welcoming in some way to know that he is with those he missed the most.

Doug was such a kind gentleman. I truly enjoyed attending school with him in ElDorado, KS. He will be missed.
Although we didn’t, know, Doug very well. He was our neighbor for a short while. We did see him coming a going on a regular bases. He was always friendly, with a quick smile and a wave. He was a very likable person. We enjoyed talking to him on the few occasions we had. He’ll be missed.

I met Doug and Rene at a local dive bar in Pensacola, FL. They always welcomed me with a smile every time we saw each other and treated me as if I was family. Saddened to hear of his passing. Best wishes to his friends and family from KY

I’m so sorry for your family’s loss., but we find comfort in believing that he is finally reunited with the love of his life—my sister.
Their love was one of those rare connections that time, distance, and even death could never break. They shared countless memories, unwavering devotion, and a bond that remained strong through every season of life. After losing my sister, a part of Doug’s heart went with her. Those of us who knew them could see that their love never faded.

I can’t believe he is gone. Doug was one of the most genuine and easy going people I’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing. I loved golfing and talking sports with him. He will be missed by many but never forgotten. Rest easy my brother, I love you.
