April 4, 1948-June 12, 2026
Beverle Kathleen Smart, 78, of Friendswood, Texas, went home and passed away peacefully on June 12, 2026, with her daughter and granddaughter by her side.
Beverle was born April 4, 1948, in Galveston, Texas, the daughter of Portia Brown and Grady Hinson.
It was in Galveston, on October 31, 1963, that fifteen-year-old Beverle met the love of her life, C.J. Smart. The two married on May 31, 1969, at the Flagship Hotel, beginning a marriage that would span 49 years. They first made their home in a small garage apartment in Galveston before building their first house in League City in 1971. There they started their family, welcoming a son, Ryan, in January 1974, and a daughter, Sunni, in 1980. The family later settled in Pearland, where Beverle and C.J. raised their children and built a life rooted in love and devotion.
Beverle began her career with Monsanto Chemical Company in 1967 as a clerk in the engineering department. In 1986 she became supervisor of the company’s central files department, a role she held until her retirement in 2005.
For more than 25 years, Beverle and her family shared many Christmas and Thanksgiving holidays with their dear friends Ginger and Johnny Nelson, their son, John William and his wife NHU Tran, who became family in every way that mattered.
After C.J. passed in 2018, Beverle remained close to her family, living independently but always near her daughter and granddaughter. They were the light of her life, and she lived every second and breathed every breath for them.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, C.J. Smart; her son, Ryan Smart; her mother, Portia Brown; and her father, Grady Hinson; stepfather, Harry Brown.
She is survived by her daughter, Sunni Glover, and son-in-law, Brandon Glover; her granddaughter, Brynn Glover; her brother-in-law, Halbert Rudolph “Rudy” Smart; her nephew, Philip Smart; her niece, Kimberly Malbrough; and many beloved friends and former colleagues.
Surrounded by the family she cherished most, Beverle leaves behind a legacy of devotion, warmth, and unwavering love.
Service will be held on Monday June 22, 2026, with a 10:00am visitation and 11:00am service at Jeter Memorial Funeral Home, 311 N. Friendswood Dr Friendswood, TX 77546. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to humane society.
