Alma Lucile Miller Choate of Alvin, Texas, passed from this world on June 10, 2026.  She was a daughter, sister, mom, aunt, grandmother and great grandmother to so many.

Alma was born the middle of five children and the only daughter to Allen Welborn Miller and Viola Konzack Miller of Alta Loma, Texas in 1938.  Athletic and outgoing, she graduated from Alta Loma High School (now Santa Fe), began pursuing a degree in Physical Education from the University of Texas, when she met Rufus Franklin Choate after he returned from the Army.  They were married on August 14th, 1954.

Life brought them to Alvin, Texas where they set up house and began their family.  Alma went on to raise their 5 children, countless cousins, neighborhood kids and many of her children’s friends. She was completely dedicated to those around her.  She was involved in her children’s sports, scouts, and school activities. She earned her “greatest” title of Nini with the addition of 11 grandchildren, countless honorary grandchildren and her pride and joy, of 11 great-grandchildren.  Family meant everything to her.

Alma is survived by four of her children and their families:  David (Yasmin) Choate, Robert (Janet) Choate, James (Cindy) Choate and Wade (Rita) Choate.  She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers, her husband Rufus and daughter, Susan.
