June 18, 1965 – April 2, 2025
Virginia “Jen” Lynn Jones Yust, 59, of Friendswood, Texas passed away on April, 2, 2025. She was born on June 18, 1965 in Youngstown, Ohio to Thomas R. Jones and Dolores I. Gilwreath Jones. The family moved to Friendswood when she was a child, and she went through the Friendswood schools. Upon graduation she worked for Toys R Us and became a Volunteer Firefighter for Forest Bend Fire Department. Later she worked for Eckerd’s and then Walgreens for many years.
Jen was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Don Yust; her siblings, Byron Jones, Mary Leus, and Joseph Jones; and her grandparents.
She is survived by her brother, Donald Jones (Paula); her sisters, Catherine Davis and Barbara McCorkle (Pat); nieces, Lorie Hughes (Jerod), Kristen Hankins (Elliott), Justine Blackwell and Randi Jo Blakeney (Joseph); nephews, Scott Davis (Kelley), Chris McCorkle (Elizabeth), Jason Jones (Robin) and Luke Salinas (John).
In 1994, she married Don Yust. They lived in the Magnolia area where they enjoyed life with their many dogs, whom they considered their children. There they made many lifelong friends as they enjoyed camping, attending NASCAR races, and having many friends and family gatherings at their home.
Jen has always loved family time and put her family above all else. She has always stressed to the younger family members the importance of staying connected and spending time together. Her nieces and nephews have been so important to her, as well as her many precious great nieces and nephews. Her joy was found in the people around her.
Her husband Don passed in 2010, and in 2011, she and her dogs, Ty and Suki, moved to Alvin to live with her brother and sister-in-law. One of her favorite things was watching sports, especially with her brother. Jen had a keen sense of humor. She had the gift of making others laugh even in the face of adversity. Her spontaneous jokes will be greatly missed.
Jen has battled kidney failure for a great portion of her life. Her brother, Don, gave her a kidney in 2005. Yet she has endured dialysis again for the last 15 years. Jen loved her dialysis family and cared deeply about each of them.
All who knew Jen loved her way of enjoying life and making it fun. We will carry that with us and try to emulate her “living on the bright side” attitude.
A memorial gathering will be held on April 19, 2025 at 10:00 A.M. in the Chapel at Jeter Memorial Funeral Home, 311 N. Friendswood Dr., Friendswood, Texas for all those who wish to attend.
