August 22, 1944 – January 14, 2025

Don was born on Tuesday, August 22, 1944, in Houston, Texas and passed away on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, with his family present. Don was the son of Pauline and Ben Hood Sr., younger brother to Ben Jr., husband of 58 years to Kathie. Father to Jeff Sr. and Donna. He had 3 grandsons, Jeff Jr., Bailey, and Christopher; great grandfather to Witten, and father-in-law to Janet.

 He graduated from Austin High School then went on to graduate from Kilgore College as well as the University of Houston. He spent many years, starting in high school, as an athletic trainer in which he was offered a position with the Houston Astros. He declined the position to the Astros so he could be home with his family. This career change led him to a path working for the City of Houston Health Department and spent his remaining time as a Water Program Manager for the Texas Natural Resource Conservation Commission for the State of Texas. He loved hunting, fishing, camping, woodworking, dogs, and was an avid stamp collector since the age of 9.

His passion was his love for God in which he shared this through teaching Bible studies. May God welcome and embrace him home.

The Funeral Service will be on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Jeter Memorial Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Hughes officiating.

Interment will follow at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery in Houston, Texas.
