In Loving Memory

Jacob Stephen Rhodes

April 10, 1997 – November 28, 2024

Jacob Stephen Rhodes went to be with the Lord on November 28, 2024, as the result of an accident.

Jacob was born on April 10, 1997, in Houston, Texas to Jason and Ann Rhodes.  Jacob was an older brother to his sister, Olivia, and his brother, Jackson.  Jacob is also survived by his loving grandparents, Ann and Jim Herrick and Howard and Debbie Rhodes.  He was welcomed into heaven by his grandfather, Stephen Jackson and his great-grandmother, Minnie Worley.  Jacob graduated from Clear View High School in 2015 and was accepted to Texas Tech University.

As a child, Jacob participated in multiple sports including baseball, football, lacrosse, track and field and basketball. His love for sports carried over into his adult life.  He was an avid sports fan, and his favorite teams included the Astros and the Texans. He was defiantly a homer!! Jacob became a lacrosse official and the highlight for him was officiating a high school game with his father and his brother as his fellow officials. Jacob also enjoyed Anime in various mediums including tv shows, books, and video games.  He had a love for books, specifically science fiction, that was only rivaled by his mother and sister. He was most happy when he was able to spend time with his friends, including his best friend, Thor Koenig.

Jacob accepted a position with EnVent. During his first year, Jacob learned many new skills and passed several certifications.  He enjoyed the variety of the different jobs and getting to know his co-workers.  His goal was to advance with the company.

There will be a service on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at 10:00am at The Harbor Church, 2821 W. Parkwood Avenue, Friendswood, TX. 77546.  Pastor Dana Aaronson will be officiating. Following the service a brief reception will be held at the home of his godfather and Uncle and Aunt, Stephen and Monica Jackson (1027 Summer Cape Circle, League City).

Condolences may be sent to the Rhodes family in care of Jeter Memorial Funeral Home at www.jeterfuneralhome.com.

Prayers for Jacob’s family and friends.

We all share the mourning of Jacob’s passing. I was in shock and terribly shaken when I got that email that morning. I was lucky enough to have spent the last month on shift with Jacob. He was my nightshift guy. I’m blessed to have known him and to work along side with him. His loud voice and unfiltered mind is what I will miss the most. He didn’t hold back and that’s what this world needs more of. Jacob my brother,You will be missed and will always have a spot in my heart. You will never be forgotten. Your lose has taught me many lessons that I will hold dearly. Until we meet again.

  10. Ann: There are no words to relieve the depth of pain and grief that the loss of a child brings. I am praying for your strength today, and comfort in the days ahead. Please accept my heartfelt condolences and may Jacob's light continue to shine through you and your family.

  11. Jason and family, you are in my prayers. I remember one summer at the AP reading, someone asked me why I seemed to be in a good mood during the long week. My response was, "I love Jesus and Geography!" Jason, I can't begin to imagine your grief, but I know we still love Jesus and Geography. May God continue to surround you and your family in perfect peace and comfort and may His glory shine through Jacob's legacy.

  12. Jason, Ann, Olivia, and Jackson,

There are no words. Jacob was such a sweet soul. I will forever remember him holding CJ, with as much tenderness and love as if she was his own. He was so young, but had an infinite ability to love all. I hope that the memories will help carry you through the hard times.

    Sending you all our love,

    Sara
