In Loving Memory

Steve Jack Schifani

November 17, 1938 – June 2, 2024

Steve Jack Schifani, 85, lovingly referred to as “Pappy,” entered into eternal life on June 2, 2024, in Friendswood, TX.

He was born to Tony and Tootsie Schifani on November 17, 1938, in Houston, Texas. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Mary Pat, daughters, Gina Voorhees (Charlie) and May Basso (Joe Schiro); grandchildren, Stephanie Mulle, Kyle Voorhees, Chris Basso and Jennifer Matthews; 6 great-grandchildren numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Jackie Lynn Gaudiano.

Steve was an honorable man who loved and put his family above everything and could often be seen tinkering in the garage, on a dance floor doing the Whip, or playing with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. In his lifetime, he served in the United States Coast Guard for 10 years, he worked for the City of Houston, owned his own business, became a pilot and a master electrician and started a dance club. An avid outdoorsman, he spent many seasons at the deer lease and many hours on the waters surrounding Galveston.

He will be missed tremendously by his family and friends, but they take comfort in knowing that he is celebrating with those who have gone before him.

The family would like to extend special thanks to Maria Perez, Josie Tellez and Virginia Rodrigues for helping to care for Steve during his illness.

Friends are cordially invited to the visitation with the family and rosary on Monday June 10, 2024 at 9:00 A.M. with the Mass to follow at 10:00 A.M. at Mary Queen Catholic Church 606 Cedarwood Dr., Friendswood, TX., 77546 with Rev. Thomas Vellappallil, M.S. officiating.  Interment will follow at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery in Houston, TX.  Lunch reception will follow immediately after the Mass.

Pallbearers will include Charlie Voorhees, Kyle Voorhees, Joe Schiro, Thomas Mulle, Chris Basso and Robert Koury.

Condolences may be sent to the family in care of Jeter Memorial Funeral Home at www.jeterfuneralhome.com.

I was so sorry to hear of Pappy’s passing. He was always so lovely to me when our path’s would cross. He had a great laugh and the fact he loved twirling Mary Pat around the dance floor was the best. Rest in peace Steve.
