Robert Felix Sama

February 26, 1931 – January 5, 2024

Attorney Robert F. Sama, 92, of Friendswood, Texas passed away on January 5, 2024.  He was born February 26, 1931 in Watertown, Massachusetts.

Cherished son of the late Joseph and Margherita (Lijoi) Sama, wife Jeannette (Stillisano) for 52 years; devoted father of Robert J. and his wife Kate of Inwood, West Virginia and Dr. Margaret Goebel  and husband Brad of Friendswood, Texas.

He was predeceased by his sister Mary, brothers, Attorney Andrew and Gerald Sama.

Very proud grandfather of 5 grandchildren, twins Isabel and Vicente (Tito) Resto of Friendswood, Texas and Joseph, Daphne and Cecilia Sama of Inwood, West Virginia. His greatest joy was being there for his family and the countless hours spent with his grandchildren.  In addition:  he is survived by many nieces and nephews. 

Robert graduated from Watertown High School in Watertown, Massachusetts and graduated Cum Laude from Boston University School of Law 1954.  He was a member of the Massachusetts Bar and Illinois Bar Association.

He was proud to serve our country in the United States army for 3 years as First Lieutenant in the Judge Advocate General Corps.  While in the army he worked on the claims for the Texas Explosion in Texas City.  After release from the army, he served two years with the Internal Revenue Service in Washington, D.C., and six years with the United States Department of Justice as a trial lawyer in the tax division. Robert Sama was tax council for Deere & Co. and worked for Gillette Co. in Boston, later elected Corporate Vice President.

He loved following Boston sports and playing golf and spending time with family and friends. He was known for his intellectual curiosity, adventurous spirit, kindness, loyalty, intensity, and wry sense of humor.

A memorial mass will be held on Thursday, January 18, 2024 at 10:00 A.M. at Mary Queen Catholic Church, 606 Cedarwood Dr., Friendswood, Texas 77546.  He will be buried at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Watertown, Massachusetts.

  1. So sad to learn of the passing of Bob, my former mentor at Gillette. I learned a lot from Bob, and was always impressed by his integrity, intellect and wry sense of humor. May he rest in peace.
