July 14, 1947 – November 27, 2023
Kelly Lee Henley, 76, born a native Houstonian to Alvin and Muriel Henley (deceased), Kelly lived life to the fullest. His joie de vivre and heartfelt laughter was contagious and could fill a room.
Kelly is survived by his wife, Susan, who loved him deeply. Kelly and Susan were married for 34 years and were each other’s one and only for 40. He is sorely missed and will be held in Susan’s heart forever.
Kelly traveled extensively in his youth and early work career. He held the distinction of being one of the original nationwide trainers for Baron Data (now Stenograph), providing the first innovative computer mainframe editing software for court reporters back in the early 1980s.
He continued his career with technology in Houston as the manager of International Court Reporters’ computer room. His training and support influenced the careers of several court reporters in Houston and nationwide, many of whom continue in the profession today.
Kelly offered his time and support as a proud volunteer with the United Way helping to guide juveniles in need. He was also an avid supporter of the good work and services provided by the Wounded Warriors Project.
Kelly faced many health challenges throughout his life and fought them all head on, but he lost his last battle against severe respiratory distress and passed away early Monday morning, November 27, 2023.
He is finally pain free and able to do all those things his physical being would not allow him to do in this lifetime.
Kelly fought the good fight…He finished the race…He kept the faith.
May Kelly rest in peace. He more than earned the right to do so!
