In Loving Memory

Neil Sweeney, III

February 9, 1938 – April 13, 2023

Neil Sweeney III, a longtime resident of Friendswood, entered his Heavenly Home on Thursday, April 13, 2023, surrounded by family. Neil was born in Houston, Texas on February 9, 1938 to Neil Sweeney and Willie Dee (Laughter) Sweeney. He grew up on Park Place Blvd and attended St Christopher’s School and St Thomas High School. Neil married Sandra Jean Hard on November 11, 1961 at St Christopher Catholic Church in Houston, Texas, and they settled in Friendswood to raise their family. The Sweeney family are longtime members of Mary Queen Catholic Church.

Neil spent the bulk of his professional career in the commercial air conditioning and refrigeration business – and passed on that knowledge and skill to his son Todd. For fun, Neil could be found tinkering with some project, or riding his Triumph motorcycle.

Neil was preceded in death by his twin baby sons Damon and Eric, his parents Neil and Willie Dee Sweeney, his grandson Jonathan Hunter Krusleski, his sister Maureen Faye Sweeney, and his wife Sandra Sweeney.

Neil is survived by his three children and their families, Melinda and Duane Losack of Friendswood, Megan Krusleski of Los Angeles, and Connor Krusleski of San Francisco, Todd Sweeney of Friendswood and Evan Elise Hicks of Pomona, and Michele Sweeney, Carter and Cooper Payne of Friendswood.

Friends and family are invited to the visitation on Tuesday, April 25, 2023 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm, with rosary service to begin at 6:00pm at the Jeter Memorial Funeral Home Chapel, 311 N. Friendswood Dr., Friendswood, Texas 77546 (281) 992-7200.

A mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, April 26, 2023 at 10:00am at Mary Queen Catholic Church, 606 Cedarwood Dr., Friendswood, Texas 77546, with graveside services to follow at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery in Houston Texas.
