October 7, 1965 – February 21, 2023

Billy Wayne Lalumandier, Sr., 57, of Channelview, Texas. He was born on October 7, 1965, in Baytown, Texas and passed away   on February 21, 2023 in Channelview, Texas. 

Words cannot express how much I love my son, and I will cherish my wonderful memories of him every moment of every day for the rest of my life.

Wayne was a kind, gentle, very smart, and an easy-going big-hearted man. He could do almost anything. He was so talented, and loved to cook, sing, and could draw so good! He knew the Bible front to back. He never met a stranger, and really enjoyed being around people. Wayne would do anything within his power to help anyone in need, and would even give you the shirt off his back. We are going to miss your company, voice, and your kind soul. We will miss you more than words can express. We love you dearly! ~ Mother, Christie, and Monica ~

The only thing I can add to these loving memories is how much I already miss our daily calls… It has left a void in my heart. I Love You Wayne and so greatly miss you! ~ Tawnya ~

Billy Wayne and I were Buddies. He was like a son to me. We went many places and did many things together. He was a quick learner and very Intelligent. As a Licensed Pilot, one day in 1990 I took him up flying. We took off and landed at five different airports that day. He just Loved it! We climbed up to 10,000 feet and I showed him how to fly the airplane.

Wow, what a huge smile he had on his face, it was exciting and awesome for him. He said, “Damn Johnson, that was so Cool. “ We flew around the San Jacinto Monument and over the Battle ship Texas. Also, he got to see his Grandparents,

J. D. and Margaret Johnson’s house on Lloyd Lane from the air at about 3,000 feet. He smiled from ear to ear. It was an Awesome Day for us. Also: He was a Loving, Caring person. What can you say about Billy Wayne that someone hasn’t already written…all of it true, too. I talked with him Sunday before he died, and it was a great conversation! His voice sounded so happy and excited. It made me happy to hear him so happy. When Jim told me about his death, I still felt Billy Wayne’s happiness and knew he was ok. Love you. ~ Marilyn ~

Our Dad was a lover of many things. You could find him on his grill, cooking whatever BBQ you could ask for, and he made the best hams ever on his grill! Get him to talking about fast cars or motorcycles, and he'd talk your ear off. Take him camping near a body of water for fishing, and he'd tell you he's gonna teach you a thing or two! But most of all, he loved life, his family, and especially his grandkids. He was a jack of all trades. Wasn't much he couldn't do when he got his hands on it. He had a smile and a laugh that was contagious, which usually put him as the center of attention in the room…a spotlight he was never scared to be in. If you looked like you were down and sad, he made it his personal mission to put a smile on your face. He had absolutely no problem helping anyone in need, and would give you the shirt off his back. He would probably even joke that he'd give you his pants also, but it'd be something you wouldn't want to see!

Dad was also a veteran of the U.S. Army and enjoyed talking to other veterans about their time in the service. He was a light to many people that will be greatly missed. ~ Shane, Brittney, Candace, Billy, Abbey ~

Wayne always loved spending time with family, and loved to go saltwater fishing, which we did often, and he was quite good at it! Wayne enjoyed cooking all kinds of food. He loved my Cajun food, and when I made it, I would freeze some and bring it to Wayne.

He also loved all kinds of music…Oldies, Country and Western, Modern, Zydeco…you name it…he loved it all! We went many places together. I have fond memories of us going swimming at the Elks Lodge, fishing at Lake Livingston, and riding in the boat. We also were boy scouts together when we lived in the Poconos. Many, many good memories, and I will really miss him. ~ James ~

Mother (Donna) and all her children loved Wayne dearly. He was like a big brother to us. I remember Wayne would always have the best games and the latest movies! We love you, Wayne. ~ Megan ~

This is difficult for me for it means I have lost one of the most important people in my life. However, this is life as difficult as it is. Billy Wayne lived life to the fullest and had no regrets. He knew that this day would come and appreciated all that he had. He had a great family and a great life and was very loved. I could say so many things about the things that we did and the experiences we had but that would take too much space. To be succinct I would like to tell you a story.

A story that exemplifies who Billy Wayne was to me. I was 9 or 10 years old, and we were playing at the pool, so we were in our bathing suits and bare feet. For some reason we started running around the apartment complex that we were at the time, Wood Creek I believe. At some point we were close to Garth Road at the front of the complex and started running back. We came across a patch of grass that had not gotten a lot of water and was dried. About mid-way through I stopped in my tracks. I could not move because the pain in my feet was too much. There were stickers all over the ground that stuck in my feet. I started crying and told Billy Wayne that I could not go any further. Billy Wayne stopped, turned around and looked at me. Without any hesitation he lifted me up and put me on his back and carried me across the sticker patch. I knew how much pain his feet must have been in with the weight of him and myself on his back, but he never said anything. He was a good soul and a selfless person. I could always depend on him.
