In Loving Memory

Janice Guhlin Blackmon

May 28, 1959 – February 16, 2023

Janice Guhlin Blackmon was sadly taken away from us from her long battle with cancer at the age of 63. Janice was born May 28, 1959 in Houston, Texas.

Janice was the youngest of five children of parents John Gene Guhlin and Mary Rose Cegelski. Janice happily grew up in south Houston thru the 1960’s and 1970’s and graduated from South Houston High School. Janice then worked for her oldest brother John Guhlin in a thriving beauty supply business while learning financial book-keeping and then began a twenty plus year career as office manager for T-Tex Industries until retiring in January 2013.

Janice was previously married to Tim McClure who passed away from cancer in 1997 and together they had no children. Janice was then re-married to Steve Blackmon in August 2008 until her recent passing.

Janice was a devoted wife and Christian who loved all children and animals with many interests particularly fishing. She loved and supported her many friends and family with true passion. She is loved and will be truly missed by all she came in contact with.

Janice was happy and so very strong throughout her seven-year battle with cancer.

Janice was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers. She is survived by her devoted husband Steve Blackmon, her brother Tim Guhlin and wife Pam, sister Cindy Mims and husband Wayne, sister-n-law Kay Guhlin and numerous other family members including several close life-long friends. Let’s not forget she is also survived by her loving pet dog “Dixie” who was her special baby.

Family and Friends are cordially invited to join together for a memorial service and reception on Tuesday, February 28, 2023 at 1:30 P.M. at St Thomas Apostle Episcopal Church (Nassau Bay), at 18300 Upper Bay Rd. Nassau Bay, Texas 77058, 281-333-2384 with The Rev. Mike Stone officiating.

Condolences may be sent to the Blackmon family at Blackmons1@comcast.net

“Prayer is the key to Heaven, but Faith unlocks the door”
